good value for money for a night or two
24 Sept 2025
Our room would have been small by Parisian standards - and it also got stuffy rather easily. But the price is tiny by Parisian standards, so the place must be rated good value for money. A nice touch is the small area near the lobby where one can sit and read, or play one of the games on offer. Location is excellent for train travellers, being right opposite the station - and there are frequent free buses into the town centre from a stop outside the hotel - but be warned that these do stop running at about 8.30 p.m. so that if one goes into town in the evening one must take a taxi or walk back (less than a mile). There are a bar and restaurant attached to the hotel which seem popular with locals - but the buffet breakfast was unexciting. Jérémy FOUCHET, Directeur général at The Originals City Hotel Le Berry, Bourges, responded to this review Hello,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at The Original City du Berry. We appreciate your honest assessment of our establishment as good value for money, which is indeed one of our priorities in this competitive market. We understand your observations about the room size and ventilation. Our historic building does present certain constraints, but we continuously work to optimize comfort within these limitations. We're pleased that you enjoyed our reading and game area in the lobby - it's a space we've created specifically to enhance our guests' experience.Regarding your comment about breakfast, I sincerely apologize that it didn't meet your expectations. While our restaurant is managed by an external partner, we will certainly share your feedback with them to improve the breakfast offering. You're absolutely right about our convenient location for train travelers, and thank you for providing helpful information about the free bus service for future guests. We hope to welcome you back for another stay.Best regards,Jeremy Fouchet - Directeur

Could be improved

The room is too little and the air conditioning is too noisy and it hardly works. The space for clothes is average. You can also hardly move in the toilet and shower. Stuff very nice and the lobby is also nice. They offer water and coffee.
