  OK so something that doesn't seem to get mentioned 99% of the images and details on the booking sites are of the expensive sister hotel chateau. The Montmorency DOES NOT HAVE a spa a pool a bar a restaurant in fact other the the room it provides nothing on site that they list. Deliberately misleading, you do have access but need to visit the other hotel to do so. At the bar the service was appalling waited 15mins to be served & when we did it was clearly an inconvenience , would not recomend

  A hotel in a good location, but with significant shortcomings

  The hotel consists of two parts: the four-star chateau and the three-star Hotel Montmorency. The latter is located in a small, low-rise building across the street. We booked a room at the hotel.The hotel’s location is perfect: the chateau’s terrace overlooks the castle, and it’s fantastic to sit there whether in the evening or during the day. The castle entrance is 50 meters from the hotel.The three-star hotel leaves much to be desired: the rooms are very small—my daughters were presumably given the smallest room in the hotel; they couldn’t even open a suitcase because the space next to the bed was so narrow—and the cleanliness is questionable. The room wasn’t ready at 3:00 p.m.; we saw the housekeepers toss the freshly made pillows and blankets onto the dirty carpet. The common hallway is very narrow, and the staircase leading to the upstairs rooms is so narrow that it’s barely possible to carry suitcases up it. The room design is quite dated, reminiscent of the ’80s; the air conditioner is old and noisy, so we preferred to open the window. The bathroom was clean and spacious.The staff was friendly and helpful, and the drinks we ordered were fine. Breakfast was served on the château’s terrace; it wasn’t a buffet, but rather portions were served individually, though we didn’t go hungry. We ordered soft-boiled eggs, but they weren’t brought out during the half hour we spent having breakfast.Parking is available in the hotel’s own parking lot, which is easily accessible, and the fee is reasonable.The hotel has a pool and balneotherapy services, but we didn’t try them.I should add that even the much more expensive hotels located inside the castle didn’t receive higher ratings than this one, but in terms of value for money, this hotel is only worth the price if you take into account how close it is to the Carcassonne Castle. The cramped room, the outdated and worn-out furnishings, and the hotel’s lack of cleanliness detracted from the experience. If you’re not staying here for a long time, it’s obviously bearable, but honestly, for nearly 200 euros per room, I expected much more.

  Disappointing Rooms

  Very clean however the rooms are not as nice as they seem in the photos. Wallpaper was peeling and it lacked basic amenities, no fridge or kettle etc. Staff are lovely but the room brought down the experience massively. The WiFi also did not work for us in the room, only in the lobby.

  Lovely Hotel & Perfect Location

  Loved this place, but the room was small and very bright in color (all orange) which I found too much. The breakfast and pool area was fabulous. I got bitten by Mosies so take some spay if you sit around the pool in the shade.

  A lovely stay

  A prime location right outside the medieval city; easy to find and accessible parking (15€ per night and there is electric charging also at a further cost).The hotel grounds at the chateau part are beautiful, the pool area lovely and comfortable. The Montmorency part is across the road but this was no issue and I don’t understand the issues with this as it’s so close.We had a classic room (50 on the upper floor) which was extremely clean, comfortable and I liked the separate toilet and bathroom. The air con is very good - there was a lack of cold water in the taps and shower but potentially this was due to the extreme heat and the system.There is no fridge or kettle, the latter which I feel should be provided to bring it up to spec but honestly we had a lovely stay. The stairs and landing look a little worn but the room was fresh. Some nice complimentary toiletries provided. The staff are extremely polite and friendly.The breakfast is 18€pp but fabulous; lovely touch using local products and an abundance of fresh food. Not cheap but you get your moneys worth.Drink prices are fairly standard.Overall a lovely stay and would definitely recommend.
