Stayed here as we were attending a wedding nearby. We had a garden room which was basic but comfortable. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We didn't have dinner as were meeting the wedding party. Breakfast was a continental but plentiful. All in all a delightful place to stay. Excellent food, lovely environment.The food was very original and cooked to a perfect standard. The staff were extremely polite and obliging. I would definitely recommend this venue for a special occasion. Great for a visit to George Sand's house at Nohant

We stayed here for a night as it is well-placed for a visit to George Sand's house at Nohant. This is a traditional French country hotel although we were allocated a room in the modern extension across the road. Good and secure parking. Friendly reception. Room was spacious with access to gardens, fixtures and fittings in bathroom perhaps in need of a slight refurbishment. Evening meal from the fixed menu was excellent and inexpensive, breakfast in the morning was equally good. Would definitely stay here again. This Hotel was booked for me by our customer ! I stayed here for 4 weeks and their hospitality is 5 Star ! All the staff are fabulous! Pierre the boss is in a class of his own, probably the best hotelier I have ever met !!!! Rooms are adequate, clean and comfortable. Fridge and safe if you require. Parking is secure and ample. WiFi is good, but if hotel is busy it becomes slow. Restaurant is just SUPER. Food is of a high standard although menu stays the same and I got quite bored with it at times ! I would DEFINITELY recommend this hotel to anyone !! Budget hotel for an overnight stay

We spent a night in the Lion d'Argent as it's conveniently located only 4 kms from George Sand's museum in Nohant. The reception was kind and efficient, they offered to book a table for us in the restaurant downstairs. The budget room was quite clean, although it smelled humid and was in need of updating. Also watching huge spiders hunt outside the bathroom window was in a way pretty entertaining. No fridge/minibar as promised, no wi-fi signal in the room. I imagine the rooms in the garden on the other side of the street are more modern and better equipped. Still, a good budget option if you just need to spend the night and don't expect too much. These first price rooms are actually less modern than the "premium" rooms and rooms "garden".
