    Only ate, but good

Good food, well presented. Went for a lunch and had the menu. Everything as it should have been - nice open kitchen on the way in. Portion of chips between two was a bit tight, but waitress saw the look on our concerned faces and assured us we could have more if required. It was. Good steak and cheeseboard.

    Traditional and elegant restaurant

    rating16 Oct 2016

This is a review of the restaurant. An elegant if somewhat sombre dining room in the centre of this small town. While nothing stands out, we did enjoy a quality traditional French dinner together with fine wine and excellent service. The tables are well spaced and it is quiet enough to enjoy an intimate conversation. Will definitely return.

    Délicieux au delà des mots!

We didn't go to stay at the hotel - just for the food, treated by family as a reward for helping them move house nearby!Excellent - we had the set menu, which was full of flavour and a very pleasant three course meal. The outdoor courtyard was lovely on a summer evening and service was polite and respectful.Highly recommended - if you're ever in town!

So sad, it could be so much better

This is a delightful attractive town to explore and the hotel is perfectly situated for this. However........Why spend money building a swimming pool and fitness centre on the opposite side of the road, which no guests used whilst I was here, when so much better would be to invest in the hotel. Wifi is dreadful and you need to input username & password every time you want to use it. Buys decent router and ensure reception is good throughout. Bedrooms are very shabby and all the window shutters need renovation. Bedrooms were dreadfully hot when I stayed. Why not put a fan into each room to help air circulation? Bathrooms are tiny and only have a small piece of cheap soap. Why not supply sensible toiletries?Food is good robust cooking, not haute cuisine in any shape, and the chef's speciality pied de cochon has been on the menu for many years. Try ringing the changes chef!!!

    go for the `food`!

an example of a dying breed: the good restaurant with rooms. NOT an Ibis/ Campanile .An individual and honey family run hotel ( 3rd generation).Good stop off from A20 ( no need to get lost in Limoges). Easy to find. Town is breath taxingly pretty, even on a wet morning.Salmon tartare was a good as could be hoped for. I was delighted that the house speciality was still on menu after my last visit 5 yrs ago: croustillon de pied de porc. Sublime. We had the 3 course menu at 27 euros and some excellent value local pinot noir ( Reuilly)The rooms are simple and clean: they are NOT 5 star. There is rather rustic free and secure parking in a walled bit of scrub land at back of the hotel. Most importantly hotel is dog friendly.
