    SUPERB HOTEL

    rating10 Oct 2025

We found the Grand Hotel by chance having been disappointed with a previous on line booking hotel. What a stroke of good fortune, the Grand Hotel is amongst the very best hotels we have ever stayed at. The location right on the delightful beach of Cala Rosa is idyllic, lovely soft sand, gentle warm water even in October, private pier with a boat service, the list goes on! The hotel facilities are equally superb, lovely gardens, beachside bar, elegant dining room with a good menu, professional friendly staff. Our room, one of their ‘basic rooms’ was more than comfortable & well appointed with direct access to the gardens & beach area. Of course all this comes at a price & it is a Relais et Chateau hotel, but go on treat yourself you are worth it!

    nice boutique hotel

    rating29 Sept 2025

a very nice hotel. we had a large suite with a terrasse which comes at a high price but all hotels are having crazy prices since Covid. the beach is too small and there is no external swimming pool nor tennis. Very difficult to book a massage . food is quite good except the Asian restaurant on the beach. service can be improved

A tad disappointing, and way too overpriced.

    rating16 Sept 2025

This was a frustrating stay, because I had high hopes leading up to the trip and there were many good parts, but for the cost and how it should be compared to similarly priced hotels, it just does not meet the required standard. The facilities are basic. It goes for rustic, an attempt to be similar to La Colombe D’Or in St Paul de Vence, but it just felt undecorated and it lacks heart. The service ranged from excellent to ambivalent and that fell below other hotels in the Relais & Chateaux range. At times it felt as though there was an absence of management and maintaining high standards. The best part of the hotel by some way is the restaurant and the main bar area. Pre/post dinner drinks were always enjoyable and the manager of the bar was lovely as was the lady who worked with him. The restaurant is excellent and served some fantastic food. It is not cheap, but it is worth it and I would recommend to anyone in the area to dine there. We ate lunch and dinner there in both restaurants and both were of a high quality. The lack of an outdoor pool, or any music by the bar/beach area, means that it is quite soulless. Some people will love the silence, but as it is not an adult-only hotel there was not that level of oasis either. The private beach is a selling point, but the actual main beach is nicer and had less seaweed build up. If you don't eat at lunch time there is a very limited menu, which is slightly disappointing too, and €42 for a charcuterie board pushes the patience a little too.The room size is good, but the room decor is bland to say the least. The bed is comfortable and the room servicing very good, but the bathroom is pretty ‘meh’ and there is no style to the room. I imagine ‘air bnb’ owners spend more time with their furnishings.Breakfast is included, but it is a very meagre buffet and being asked to pay a further €12-15 for a freshly cooked omelette or eggs benedict on top of the €1,400 a night room cost felt a bit unnecessary. The gym is beyond basic. Almost an afterthought. Which I suspect it was given it is across the road. The spa seemed nice enough and had an indoor pool but that only served to highlight the lack of an outdoor one overlooking the beach.Had we spent 1/3rd of the cost on the room I would still have felt disappointed in some of the areas above, but I would probably have found it easier to recommend the hotel to others. My overall view is that for the money everything should be so much better than it is, and more disappointing is that it would not take much for it to reach this level.

    Paradise!

    rating07 Sept 2025

Grand Hotel Cala Rossa is pure paradise. From start to finish I was constantly impressed with the service and the spectacular location. It’s a true five star hotel. I don’t understand the previous negative reviews. We booked a simple standard room and it suited us just fine. The decor of the hotel was stunning throughout and our hotel room seemed larger than the quoted 20m. There were beautiful teak floors in our spotless chic room with smart storage as well as a little balcony that we enjoyed each day. The blue sky and the fragrance of the nearby pepper tree was so pleasant! If we wanted a view we simply strolled through the lobby through the well, but always quietly attended grounds. There was always a sincere « bonjour madame » whenever I encountered one of the hotel staff. Everyone was incredibly polite without being the least bit stuffy. We found the hotel to be an excellent value due to its location, design, and warm hospitality. We were a mid 60s couple traveling alone. We dined at La Pinède twice during our 4 nights and at the other restaurant directly on the water for lunch. We sat in sun beds on the beach as well as on the deck and we greatly impressed by the service of all the beach attendants who were always ready to set up beds and umbrellas for us. We enjoyed the complimentary daily boat ride with Julien as our trusty captain. The chiller still and sparkling water was most appreciated after our swim in the stunning blue water! Don’t miss this experience! The hotel is situated on it’s own sandy beach and enjoys a roped off swimming area that is perfect for swimming laps or playing with children. The water is crystal clear! We also enjoyed walking down the beach for lunch at Ranch O’ Plage for a casual pizza or hamburger. We also had a nice dinner at the hotels sister restaurant Rena. What a stunning view and excellent service

This is a truly Fabulous hotel, we couldn’t fault a single thing. From start to finish the staff was amazing, the food was fantastic with an English menu that was so helpful for me 😊, the setting was also stunning. The beach bar had comfortable beach chairs and the staff there so attentive. Was so sad to leave. Definitely worth a visit, we will be going back.
