Avoid at All Costs – Overpriced, Outdated, and Utterly Disappointing

    rating07 Sept 2025

If you're considering staying at the Tilbury Hotel in Porto Vecchio—don’t. We stayed for 5 nights in peak August and were charged more than three times the off-peak price. Unfortunately, the service, facilities, and overall experience weren’t even worth a third of what we paid. There was no WiFi for the entire stay. Not spotty WiFi. Not slow WiFi. Just absolutely none—despite it being advertised as a standard amenity. When we asked about it, the man at reception was completely useless—indifferent, unhelpful, and frankly couldn’t care less. No updates, no apologies, just a shrug. The hotel itself is dark, gloomy, and in desperate need of a renovation. The rooms are tired and feel neglected, much like the attitude of the staff. Everything about the place feels dated and depressing. Calling it a “hotel” is generous—it has more in common with a rundown hostel that’s lost its funding. The worst part? The staff. Miserable, rude, and uninterested in anything resembling hospitality. Not once were we made to feel welcome or even acknowledged with basic courtesy. This hotel trades purely on location and completely neglects everything else. For what we paid, we could have stayed somewhere genuinely luxurious—but instead, we got this sad, grim excuse of a hotel.Save your money. Stay literally anywhere else.

    Hotel Tilbury newly renovated

    rating17 Jun 2023

The room good size and the bathroom were all renovated, little terrace with nice seeview and the pool. The personnel from reception and service bar were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was overpriced for what it offers. The location is very good and just in front of the hôtel there is this free shuttle which brings you anywhere in town and to the harbour.

    Dreadful hotel

    rating02 Jun 2022

Dreadful hotel. Outdated decor and run down. Needs updating. Overpriced for what it is. Good location but not a nice experience to stay here.Rooms are really old fashioned and bathroom has plastic bath and very thin towels. We are sorry that you did not find complete satisfaction during your stay as we do our best to satisfy all our guests. The pool is open from 7am to 9pm every day and has been heated since this year.We are gradually trying to revitalize some of the facilities. Parking not so free

    rating15 Aug 2018

Good three star in terms of location and amenities if a little dated. Two issues: One was breakfast as pointed out in other reviews the other was parking. Although parking was “free” there were only 7-10 spaces for the 33 rooms. We managed to park outside once and under the hotel twice but then had no parking on one day and were told by reception to park at Gifu which was more than a five minute walk away. We were then accused of parking in a reserved space on one day and told we had to pay 40 Euro. After much arguing we convinced the staff we did not park in a place that was marked as reserved and that no one had informed us of our supposed transgression until the next morning. We then asked to reserve a place for our last day which the receptionist did but again were charged 20 Euro. All of this was understandable but we were not made aware of any parking charges until afterwards and for a hotel that advertises free parking it is just not cricket. ☹️

Good hotel, well located, somewhat overpriced

    rating11 Jul 2017

Le Tilbury has a lot of positives and only a few slight negatives. Well located centrally near the old town; Car Parking; Great view; Lovely swimming pool; Breakfast by the pool; Helpful staff and large rooms. We had a great sea view and balcony. A few small negatives - room décor is pretty average and uninspiring; the hallways are very dark and a little off putting; the breakfast is a set tray of items - nit a buffet; So limited enough. Coffee was good though. Also felt it was slightly overpriced. However the positives outweigh the negatives and therefore give it a 'Very Good' rating.
