    Little Gem of a place

    rating20 Sept 2025

What a place to stay, we had room 98 which was a lovely lodge with an outside patio and secret garden in the bamboo, on its own in a quiet location. The hotel were amazing as they let us check in early, showed us all around the grounds, restaurant and pool areas. We were able to use the hotels courtesy mini bus to go the centre of Bonifacio and return on many occasions. Our room had one of the most comfortable beds ever and was kept very clean and tidy each day. They offer a selection of pillows too!Do go to the restaurant and spoil yourselves, the food is delicious and worth every penny. Staff are all very helpful even though we couldn’t speak French and took their time trying to understand our requests. Pool was lovely and warm and area very clean and tidy.

    Slightly deflated…

    rating23 Jul 2025

We stayed at A Cheda for the last few nights of our Corsican trip in the south and sadly it did not live up to its expectations. After a lot of research that went into looking for a final stop off, I came across this beautiful hotel, which has amazing reviews and sounded just like what we’d love but unfortunately we were extremely underwhelmed. Despite the hotel location being brilliant and the staff being helpful, as soon as we arrived here we felt deflated. One of the main disappointments for us was the amount of children at the hotel who were jumping, bombing and diving in the pool all day - I suppose this is what adults only hotels were but after reading all the reviews, there was no mention of this, only that is was very peaceful so didn’t think this would be an issue for us. The location is great, it’s a 5 minute drive into Bonifacio and the setting of the hotel itself is lovely. Most of the staff are helpful and friendly. Rooms & food / drink. - overpriced!! We had booked the Grande Chambre room which we expected to be bigger than it was after seeing photos on booking.com and the website but sadly it’s very very small. I asked to view a cosy room (the smallest room on their site) and it’s the exact same, just the Grande Chambre has a bath. I spoke with reception and they said they would try and rectify. In the meantime, we went to the pool area to grab a glass of wine and asked for some bread & cheese (this was delicious!) - the man on the bar brought the bill over immediately which was €80 - for two drinks & some bread and cheese I think that’s pretty extortionate. Perhaps I felt disgruntled because of the room situation and the children splashing in the pool when he brought this over. A member of staff then came over, they said they’d spoken with their manager and they had a suite available they could upgrade us to which we were very appreciative of. Although, I was still disappointed… the suite we had upgraded to was the same one as the pictures we had seen on the website of the Grande Chambre room (so the one we were originally expecting to be in). I was happier in this room, but we were made to feel like they had done us a big favour. We travel a lot and we have stayed in some beautiful boutique luxury hotels over the years but I have to say, this experience felt very cold sadly. The food, drink & rooms are overpriced and it’s certainly wasn’t an “oasis” for us like the other reviews stated. Edmond CRIDEL, Directeur général at A Cheda, responded to this review Dear guest,As expressed in our emails following your departure, we are very sorry that your experience did not live up your expectations and for the misunderstanding about the different categories of rooms.Unlike our suites A Speranza*****, which would better meet your expactations, the Lodge A Cheda is not an adults only hotel. Althought children are rare during the rest of the year, it’s true that we receive more families in July and August. As the children are accompanied by their parents to the swimming pool, you could have kindly ask them to intervene to calm down them, you could also asked to our staff to do so.A Cheda is an hotel where the good humor and joy of living predominate, I’m sure the A Speranza***** hotel better suited your expectations. You think our prices are too high, we purpose you an amazing buffet breakfast and a gastronomic cuisine which you did not take advantage of, as you enjoyed the cheese and wine, the other dishes are just as delicious. The bartender brought you the bill not for the payment but to sign it, as you will see in all hotels.Few days before your arrival, you asked us to modify the dates of your stay, we kindly accepted this change, informing you that the reserved category was no longer available. We welcome you in a new renovated Grand charme room which did not suit you regarding the room you booked. The comfort is different between the Cosy room (with a shower) and the Grand charme room (with a spa bath and shower). We want our guest to be fully satisfied wit their stay, which is why we have offered you an upgrade to a suite despite the financial less it represents for us, for sure it was a favour to make you smile. We sincerely regret that despite of all our efforts you did not appreciate your stay.

Very nice facility, still much to improve

    rating29 Aug 2024

The beautiful facility is immersed into a perfectly maintained green area which generates a great sense of peace and calm. The entire garden is very nicely designed. Suites and lodges are amid large trees and blooming hedges which keep the environment under a very refreshing natural shadow. Our two level room was very spacious, warmly decorated with all necessary amenities to have a very comfortable stay. Fairly good AC, large bathroom with bathtub. The backyard terrace was indeed a great value added to our lodge. Not greatly comfortable mattress, however the pillow selection helped. The minibar wasn’t stocked up the second night.Helpful and professional personnel, very kind however, perhaps, a bit unnatural. Just an opinion of course.Breakfast was rich and varied with a number of high quality genuine local products. To be honest, I’d have expected a proper omelette instead of the “frittata” I got, however everything was really delicious. The hotel, its services and hotel personnel would deserve a 5, but our experience at the restaurant wasn’t actually positive. The service and the cuisine do not reflect neither the high quality products they have nor the very high price they charge. The charcuterie selection was basically the same you had available for breakfast, while chestnut gnocchi were not even average. Wine list is relatively poor and overpriced. The very gentle and professional hotel manager turned our night in a pleasant memory, though not enough to forget the poor unfriendly service and the average menu.Nevertheless, the nice curly hair waitress deserves a special mention for her efforts and smiley attitude. A great spot where one could spend some days in Bonifacio, but not as good for remarkable dining experiences.

    A Cheda - highly recommended

    rating18 Jul 2024

An oasis of calm, beautiful gardens. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent chef. Room service second to none. Swimming pool lovely and area surrounding clean and tidy.Good mini bus service to and from Bonifacio. We discovered this amazing place after seeing the chef Lionel Lebrun on T.V. Via Stella (in Scotland) and have been several times since our discovery in 2016. Edmond CRIDEL, Directeur général at A Cheda, responded to this review Thank you for your kind review and loyalty. We hope to see you soon!

    Simply overpriced.

    rating03 Jul 2024

Small rooms w/quirky decor if you are into sticks & wire. Nice gardens. Tiny pool. Food is ludicrously priced and jaw droppingly expensive e.g. Fish & Chips Euro32 ! Basic pasta dish Euro24 !! Breakfast is typical continental fayre - nothing special. Reception Staff are great and very helpful. EV charging points for Tesla but no 8-pin charging points, only 2-pin. Hotel tom cat - fluffy & likes to get acquainted. Hotel dog miserable. Hotel well located to explore South of island and makes a comfortable base, but watch your wallet !
