    Definitely not 4 star!

    rating17 Sept 2026

Very disappointed in this hotel. When we got up to the room (2nd floor no lift) we found used glasses and bottles outside the door and the key card didn’t work. We were concerned that the room may be already occupied. Went back to reception and was told it was our room but I shouldn’t have held the card so close to my phone. Reset the card. Still didn’t work. A different receptionist (much nicer) tried the master key. It didn’t work. Eventually she managed to open the door with a hand held device. Dismayed to discover the used glasses were not the only things the previous occupants had left as the toilet wasn’t flushed. Not pleasant.Went down for drinks and found we couldn’t charge anything to our room as usual as we had had to pay in full on arrival. Each transaction had to be paid individually. Bar and restaurant was very crowded and short staffed so this really caused big delays and long queues formed. Tried to return to the room to freshen up before dinner and yes yet again key card didn’t work. Very busy receptionist was not happy. She insisted on accompanying me to the room as I was ‘doing it wrong’ . I am All Accord gold - this is not my first rodeo. Didn’t work for her either. I apologised and assured her I had not put it near my phone. She blamed my smart watch. She said I had tried too many times and caused it to lock down but it would work later. I used the ladies room in the lobby instead and found my shoes were sticking to the floor.Restaurant staff were really lovely but completely overwhelmed. 2 coach parties in and only 4 staff. It was chaos. A few people walked out. Long queues at the bar so we gave up and went to bed. Thankfully this time the key card worked.Never again! RECEPTION NOVOTEL, Owner at Novotel Dijon Sud, responded to this review Hello,Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are sincerely sorry that your stay was marked by so many frustrating incidents. The repeated issues with your room key, the items left outside the room and the condition in which the bathroom was found are clearly not the experience we want to provide. We are also sorry that the way the situation was handled made you feel that the issue was being attributed to you rather than properly resolved. We also regret the inconvenience caused by having to settle each bar and restaurant transaction separately, as well as the waiting times you experienced during a particularly busy service. Your comments regarding the cleanliness of the lobby facilities and the organisation of the restaurant have been shared with the relevant managers. We are nevertheless pleased that you found our restaurant team friendly despite the difficult circumstances they were facing. As a Gold member of ALL, and therefore a frequent Accor guest, we fully understand why this experience was especially disappointing. Please accept our sincere apologies for the shortcomings encountered throughout your stay.Kind regards,Benjamin

    Good room bad restaurant

    rating16 Sept 2026

Stayed overnight on coach package.Room nice and clean good bathroom. Problem with restaurant not enough staff working when there was two coach parties needing to be fed.We sat 15 minutes waiting for menu then after another 15 minutes no one had been to take our order so we left and went to the American diner in the bowling alley 250 meters away. RECEPTION NOVOTEL, Owner at Novotel Dijon Sud, responded to this review Hello,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are pleased that you found your room clean and comfortable and that you appreciated the bathroom. We are, however, very sorry about your experience in our restaurant. With two coach groups dining at the same time, our team should have been organised accordingly, and waiting around thirty minutes without having your order taken is understandably frustrating.Your comments have been shared with our restaurant management team so that we can review the organisation and staffing during periods of high activity. We regret that this prevented you from dining with us and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a much smoother experience on a future stay.Kind regards,Benjamin

Fight to the death at breakfast

    rating03 Aug 2026

Can’t believe how nice the hotel pic of the pool makes it look - trust me it’s not that nice! 10 kids fill it and it needs a good clean! We stayed overnight on our way to the Alps, and I wasn’t expecting too much from it as it was literally just to break up the journey. I booked a room for 2 adults and 2 kids. The kids’ bed was a shared small sofa bed, and wasn’t big enough for a 10 year old boy and 6 year old girl to share without kicking the living daylights out of each other. It also only had one pillow (another fight) and there was only 3 towels. It was getting late and we’d lost the will to live by that point so we decided to just suck it up. Evening meal was actually quite nice, fresh, lots of choice, seasonal etc - but breakfast?! Problem was there wasn’t any! My husband is sat here and wants me to write “fight to the death” hahah! Some pancakes came out and you’d think some of these people had never seen food before! There was a basket with fruit and kids were grabbing an armful and disappearing off into the tables like feral animals! They ran out of eggs, pastries, pancakes and bread (At 8.40 so not particularly early or late) I understand a rush can happen, but we gave it half an hour after asking staff, and no more food arrived so we gave up and just got on the road. I can laugh now, but with two hungry kiddos who wanted more than an apple each alongside their travel-sick tablets, I wasn’t laughing at the time. RECEPTION NOVOTEL, Owner at Novotel Dijon Sud, responded to this review Hello,Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are sincerely sorry that your overnight stay did not provide the comfortable and relaxing stop you expected. We regret the condition and overcrowding of the swimming pool during your visit, as well as the insufficient number of towels and pillows provided in your room. These oversights should have been identified before your arrival, and your comments have been shared with our housekeeping team.We are particularly sorry about your experience at breakfast. At 8:40 a.m., the buffet should have remained fully stocked, and waiting more than thirty minutes without adequate replenishment is not acceptable. We fully understand how frustrating this must have been, especially when travelling with two hungry children. Your feedback has been passed on to our restaurant and management teams so that the organisation and replenishment of the buffet can be reviewed. We are nevertheless pleased that you enjoyed your evening meal and appreciated the freshness, variety and seasonal selection offered. Please accept our sincere apologies for the shortcomings encountered during your stay.Kind regards,Benjamin

    It was surprisingly very good

    rating21 Jun 2026

Very good food, room was good enough and very helpful staff. We were concerned about booking there because of the negative reviews but it definitely was an excellent stay and good value for money. Yes the building is outdated but it is well kept. It is especially rewarding to know that you enjoyed our food, found our team helpful, and felt that your stay offered good value for money. We also appreciate your comments regarding the building. While some areas are indeed older, we work hard every day to maintain our hotel to the highest possible standard and provide our guests with a comfortable experience. We truly hope to welcome you back on your next visit.Kind regards,Benjamin

    Avoid

    rating11 Sept 2025

Reception and the bar look good and check-in was fast but all down hill after that. Our “Executive” room was tired, connecting door won’t close at all, aircon won’t work, very little soundproofing so we can hear every word of next doors phone conversation and footsteps from the room above and everyone walking down the corridor. Only two people working the bar and restaurant so after 20 minutes trying to get a drink we gave up and went out.On the plus side the bed was comfy If the manager reads this, resign you’re no good at your job. Julie RIMET, General Manager at Novotel Dijon Sud, responded to this review Hello,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While we are glad you appreciated the comfort of the bed, we are truly sorry that the rest of your stay did not meet your expectations. We understand your disappointment with the air conditioning, soundproofing, and the service at the bar and restaurant. Please rest assured that your comments have been shared with our team so we can make improvements. We would, however, kindly remind you that while feedback is always welcome and valuable, personal remarks such as “resign you’re no good at your job” are not constructive. Our team members, including management, work hard every day to welcome our guests, and respectful communication helps us improve far more effectively. We sincerely hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with the positive experience you were expecting.Kind regards,Benjamin
