  A place that is part of our history.

  Sad that this establishment is leaving the Hilton chain. It was our pilgrimage site; we met there. So a place filled with emotions. The staff who have worked there for years add a real feeling of being at home to the experience.   Everyone should be aware That this is no longer a Hilton Hotel. It is now part of the Leonardo Group who have a different approach to customer service.They do not allow you to charge anything ( food or drink) to your room account, immediate paymentIs required for everything. All food or drink deliveries are accompanied by a card machine, totally unacceptable for a 4 star establishment. They tried to charge for breakfast which was already included in the room rate. Five separate visits from staff during breakfast to advise us that they needed to charge, again a totally unacceptable situation.It is almost as if they do not trust their guests and ,are running the place almost as a Hostel not a top quality hotel.We will certainly never use a Leonardo Hotel again as we were advised that these practices applied in all of their group hotels Evian Reception, General Manager at Hotel Evian-les-Bains, responded to this review Dear Sandy,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.We are sorry for the inconvenience and frustration caused by the situation regarding your breakfast. We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience.More generally, the transition has involved a number of changes to our procedures, including payment arrangements, and we regret that these changes affected your experience.   Fantastic location. Needed a refurbishment

  This hotel was so disappointing. The views from the lower floors/suites are not great. You can’t see the lake because of the huge trees. We arrived late to be told it’s just room service as the restaurant was closed. When we got to our room we rang down to be told the kitchen for room service was also closed, the only item they could heat up and serve was curry and rice served in a glass jar. It was ok but not really what we wanted at 10.30pm. Breakfast was ok, very average. Unfortunately the coffee from the machine was really awful. It was so disappointing not to be served fresh coffee. It felt very cheap to be going to get your ‘not very nice’ coffee from a machine every morning. The pool area is nice and the water is a perfect temperature however the cracked tiles by the pool and bird poo covering the outside of the Spa with dirty windows was not a nice sight. We went in the executive lounge for evening complimentary drinks, most of the time the room was dirty. Empty glasses and plates left everywhere. The outside was full of Seagull poo with old, dated furniture on the terrace and again cracked floor tiles. Inside was an unappealing selection of snacks (we think left over from breakfast). The rooms (we changed rooms for a better view) are dated with cheap looking furniture in. Nothing was luxurious or memorable. The shower (in both rooms) leaked all over the bathroom floor. The lights outside on the balconies automatically go out in the evening so you can’t sit outside and have drinks. It’s a very average hotel that needs updating with some major TLC. The staff seemed to of given up and agreed the hotel needed to close for a complete refurbishment. The location of the hotel is fantastic but we would not stay again, very disappointing.   A hotel in transition

  Disappointing. We stayed for 4 nights (2 rooms) this July. It’s ok, but we had high hopes that weren’t met.Good location and great views of the lake. A room without a view (eg of the service road) would be miserable.The rooms are tired. Really need freshening up. Stained sheets, carpets with bleach spills, shower doors that don’t seal etc.Evening meal was disappointing (very limited veg options). Breakfast was good (mainly) but hopelessly understaffed - waiting several times for plates and bowls. Fruit salad was well past its best - “fizzy” grapes is really amateurish Pool was warm and lovely. The spotlight hanging out of its housing was fixed overnight (thank you) but felt unsafe.The Hilton signs were taken down which was weird. But one day signs were put up announcing the change to a Leonardo hotel. Totally unexpected. Carpark plenty of spaces - and EV chargers if you can work them out.The hotel has potential to be great - and the staff were very pleasant - but the Owner needs to spend considerable money and time to meet guest expectations. It felt like a hotel in transition- maintenance long since cut to a minimum and food being used up.
