Really good hotel in the heart of Val D'Isere

    rating20 Apr 2026

I was definitely surprised to see that this hotel is not rated higher on here!It is very very good. The staff were beyond helpful, and frankly this is quite rare in a French ski resort, and not only were they helpful, but they were also friendly! It does make a difference to have good staff, as it makes everything feel more lux.Lots have commented about the rooms, yes, they aren't massive but Experimental took over the hotel so can't do anything about it - you don't spend that much time in there anyway! That said, the rooms are very well thought-out, clean, well-designed with the best beds I've slept in for a while - bathrooms small but stocked with amenities. Robes lovely as well. They change your sheets every day! We had a birthday within our family, and the hotel thoughtfully came up with balloons, a cake, and candles - a great personal touch. Side note: we got 3x rooms upgraded at check-in, so book direct to get a chance at this!!The ski shop staff deserve a special shout-out, incredibly friendly, and personal - they are actively helpful and chatty - made a difference! Concierge great as well.A few things to improve on, as with every hotel:- More pro-active Breakfast ordering (sometimes was hard to find a waiter)- The ski room is TINY for such a big hotel, and although the staff are amazing, it is poorly thought out as they have to get everything (skis, boots etc) for you due to the size of the room so at peak times can take a while.- The lighting systems in the room are a bit temperamental and turned off a few times with no power. - When you shower in the Bath, it is quite slippery, so may want to explore bathmat options. Experimental Chalet Val D'Isere is really good and our best hotel out of our 4 years in Val D'Isere - highly recommend! Great staff, great location

    rating03 Apr 2026

We brought the family here for a week. We thought the staff were great, food was good, the bar is lovely and it’s in a perfect location. Only a couple things to improve; the odd lighting system in the room which needs resetting (it’s gone again as I am writing this, which is a pain if you are just getting ready to go out) and on reflection it’s seems on the expensive side, especially what else you can get at higher star properties. All in all, we had a great time and the staff are lovely. Hotel Manager, Owner at Experimental Chalet Val D'Isere, responded to this review Dear Guest,We appreciate you sharing your perspective with us.We are delighted to hear that you found our team welcoming and enjoyed the culinary offerings along with our bar’s ambiance.Regarding the technical difficulties you encountered, we apologize for the inconvenience. Our team is continuously working to streamline such systems for a more seamless experience. It’s wonderful to know our location added convenience to your adventures, and we truly appreciate your kind words about our staff’s dedication. The whole team certainly hope we can welcome you back on another occasion. Many thanks once again,La Direction

    Disappointing

    rating12 Mar 2026

We are big fans of experimental… My husband and I have stayed at the Chalet in Verbier, the Menorca property, Paris, and the cocktail club in Ibiza. This one was a huge letdown. The staff are usually a highlight at Experimental properties — young, energetic and professional. Here, they were rude or apathetic, I’m not sure which. Felt like they expected us to be grateful for being there. The rooms are TINY. This was a property they took over so not much one can do about that but they should lower the prices. We feet robbed by a brand that usually we think prices relatively fairly. The bar area is beautifully done and was a highlight. But couldn’t make up for the cold service and outrageous room price. Hotel Manager, Owner at Experimental Chalet Val D'Isere, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your impressions of your stay with us.We are glad you enjoyed the unique style of our bar. However, we are sincerely sorry that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. The service you described is quite far from the warm and attentive approach our team strives to provide, and we take your remarks to heart . We regret that the room you reserved did not offer the sense of space you anticipated. Concerning your impression of value, we appreciate your perspective. Our rates reflect both the extensive refurbishment of our facilities and our location at the foot of the Val d’Isère slopes, yet we understand the importance of feeling that your experience matches your expectations. We hope that you will consider a future stay so we may provide you with an experience that better reflects the spirit of Experimental Chalet Val d’Isère.Best regards,Léa NFront of House Manager

    Poor

    rating21 Feb 2026

We needed a taxi to La Daille in the early morning, it took 2 hours ( several visits to reception) for the team to confirm it…morning coffee on several morning arrived cold. Poor inexperienced staff. Not sure it deserves 4 stars. Worst worst worst

    rating26 Jan 2026

Worst hotel we ever stayed at, the staff is rude, most of the hotel staff had a flu and was coughing all over the place and on food and beverages. The rooms were being cleaned at 6:30pm and amenities were not renewed daily. The service was very slow, we waited 2hrs at the restaurant to get our order, and staff were unprofessional specially when dealing with a baby (raw chicken served, hot soup served on the baby’s dining chair, a WiFi router inside our room 1m away from the bed! staff going in the playground with dirty shoes on and refusing to take them off…), dirty towels were placed in the room… Hotel Manager, Owner at Experimental Chalet Val D'Isere, responded to this review Dear Simone,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.We sincerely apologize for the shortcomings you encountered, particularly regarding the staff conduct and service delays, which are not reflective of our usual standards. Your feedback on the timing of room cleaning and amenities has been noted, and we are reviewing our protocols. We are committed to ensuring all our guests, including families with young children, feel fully supported and safe throughout their stay. Regarding the Wi-Fi router placement, we appreciate your concern and we have taken action to unplug it as soon as you mentioned it to us by email. On a positive note, we’re glad our central location provided convenient access to Val d’Isère’s attractions. We hope that we may have the pleasure of welcoming you back on a future visit.Best regards,Léa N Front of House Manager
