    Perfect ski hotel.

    rating16 Apr 2026

Booked a last minute trip with my 13 year old daughter for the last week of the ski season. This hotel was wonderful! It’s nicely located just down from the main village of Avoriaz. It’s easy get to the three main chairlifts and there is a ski shop directly opposite. The staff at the hotel are all really welcoming and friendly. Our room was big and comfortable, and had a wonderful view of the mountains. There are great radiators for drying things if you have a wet day on the slopes. There are a couple of saunas, a steam room, and a Nordic bath, which were all lovely at the end of a long ski day. I’d seen bad reviews about the breakfast but I thought they were excellent - lots of different pastries, cakes, yoghurts, cereal, eggs, smoked salmon, lovely fresh orange juice. On arrival in Avoriaz, we walked down with our bag in a sledge, and when we departed, we got a snow mobile (the horses and sleighs had stopped for the season). The hotel helped arrange it for us at 6am as we had an early departure, nothing was too much trouble for them to help us. I would definitely stay here again and really enjoyed our stay. Direction Dromonts, General Manager at Hotel des Dromonts by SOWELL COLLECTION, responded to this review Dear Lozrod,Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review. We are truly delighted to read that you and your daughter had such an enjoyable stay with us to end the ski season. It is a pleasure to know that you appreciated our location, the comfort of your room, the mountain views and the convenience of the ski facilities. We are also very happy that you enjoyed the spa after your days on the slopes — there is nothing quite like it to unwind.Your kind words about our team mean a great deal to us. We are especially pleased that we could assist you with your early departure and help make your stay as smooth and easy as possible. We are also glad to read your positive feedback on the breakfast, which is always very rewarding for our teams. It would be a real pleasure to welcome you back to Hôtel des Dromonts for another memorable stay in Avoriaz.Warm regards,The Hôtel des Dromonts Team

It's time for a new GM.

    rating24 Mar 2026

Dear Sir/Madam,For a four-star hotel, it is unacceptable that rooms are only available at 5 PM, even when guests arrive in the morning. This reflects poor organization. If housekeeping indeed works from the lower floors upwards, this means that room 405 is systematically cleaned last. This is an inefficient and customer-unfriendly approach. The ski room is clearly inadequate for the hotel’s capacity. There is insufficient space, too little seating, and poor lighting. This urgently needs to be addressed. No matter how hard the breakfast staff member works, it is obvious that one person is not sufficient. The buffet is not replenished in time and tables remain uncleared for too long. Guests who do not arrive early are left with a half-empty breakfast. The breakfast buffet is far below the standard expected of a four-star hotel. There is no choice of eggs (only scrambled eggs with milk), no granola or muesli, and no fresh fruit. The fruit provided is of poor quality, often overripe or damaged. The half-board option is misleading. A surcharge of €10 is applied for meat dishes, while the price difference between fish and meat on the menu is only €3. This feels like a hidden extra charge.A “chef’s suggestion” is advertised, but it was unavailable on multiple occasions. For a week-long stay, this results in a very limited and repetitive menu. It's time for a new GM. Direction Dromonts, General Manager at Hotel des Dromonts by SOWELL COLLECTION, responded to this review Dear M. Van Herp,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback following your stay with us.We regret that we did not have the opportunity to speak with you during your 4-night stay, as our team would have been more than happy to assist and enhance your experience. While we regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, we feel it is important to provide some context and clarification.First of all, we are naturally surprised by the tone of your comments, which do not reflect most of the feedback we usually receive, particularly regarding the professionalism and dedication of our teams, who are regularly praised by our guests.Regarding your room availability, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience as the room was ready at 5:00 PM instead of our standard check-in time of 4:00 PM. We were pleased to offer you some drinks for the wait. Your stay took place during one of the busiest periods of the season, and on that particular day we were unfortunately affected by unexpected staff absences. Despite our teams’ best efforts, this led to delays in preparing some rooms, including yours.Concerning the ski room, we have not received similar feedback regarding its capacity until now, but we appreciate your comment and will take it into consideration in our ongoing reflections. As for breakfast, please note that our buffet is continuously replenished throughout the service, ensuring that even guests arriving at the end of breakfast are offered the same selection. However, when many guests arrive at the same time — understandably eager to be first on the slopes — it may occasionally result in short waiting times. After all, a little patience is sometimes part of the holiday rhythm in the mountains.Regarding the half-board offer, we would like to clarify that guests have access to two restaurants, offering a varied selection of starters, main courses and desserts. At “Les Enfants Terribles”, the choice includes linguine, sea bream fillet and the chef’s suggestion. Premium dishes such as beef fillet or braised beef are available with a €10 supplement, which reflects the overall pricing structure of the menu. Regarding the supplement for the fillet, it has been offered to the 4 of you on Thursday evening. On one occasion, the chef’s suggestion was indeed unavailable due to supply delays. As Avoriaz is a pedestrian resort, deliveries can occasionally be impacted, and we adapt accordingly to maintain service continuity. We are also somewhat surprised by your comments regarding the variety of the menu, as during your 4-night stay, you dined only once at “Les Enfants Terribles” and twice at “Le Festival”.We regret that your overall perception of your stay does not reflect the experience we strive to offer, and we thank you nonetheless for your feedback, which helps us continue improving.Kind regards,The Hôtel des Dromonts Direction

    Gorgeous stay

    rating04 Mar 2026

We had a truly wonderful stay at this charming hotel in the French Alps. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome, with warm hospitality that perfectly matched the cozy mountain atmosphere. People say the decor is tired however its the charm of it to have the rustic alpine feel so it didnt bother us. The hotel is ideally located right in the heart of the ski resort, just steps away from the slopes, which made getting out early each morning effortless. The views of the snow-covered mountains were absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset. The ski hire shops are all within a 5 minute walk or one opposite. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully decorated in a traditional alpine style. The bed was very comfortable after long days on the slopes, . The spa and wellness area was also a highlight — the perfect place to relax and unwind after skiing. Yes the hot tub isnt the hottest but it didnt ruin the experience, Breakfast each morning was great with a generous selection of fresh pastries, local cheeses, and hot options. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We did half board so we had an evening meal, the only thing we would suggest is more veggie options as we are veggies Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for a relaxing and memorable ski holiday in France, we highly recommend staying here. We would absolutely return! We would like to make a special mention to Melvin and issabelle they are such lovely people :-) Direction Dromonts, General Manager at Hotel des Dromonts by SOWELL COLLECTION, responded to this review Dear Matilda,Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are also pleased that you appreciated the unique alpine charm of the hotel and our fantastic location right in the heart of Avoriaz, just steps from the slopes. The mountain views are indeed something very special, and we are glad you were able to enjoy those magical sunrise and sunset moments. We would be delighted to welcome you back to Hôtel des Dromonts for another memorable stay in the Alps.Warm regards,The Hôtel des Dromonts Team

+ location, hotelvibe, places for drinking, friendly staff, roomcomfort- no help with luggage, poor choices eating half board, cleaning room late in the afternoon ( after 4pm), lack of hospitality Direction Dromonts, General Manager at Hotel des Dromonts by SOWELL COLLECTION, responded to this review Dear M D.,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay with us. We are pleased to read that you appreciated our location, the atmosphere of the hotel, the comfort of the rooms and the friendliness of our team.We are however sorry that some aspects of your experience did not fully meet your expectations. As your stay took place during one of the busiest periods of the season, our housekeeping teams were particularly busy, which may explain why room servicing was sometimes later in the afternoon.Regarding the half-board offer, guests can choose between our two restaurants, offering a selection of several starters, main courses and desserts, allowing a variety of options throughout the stay.Your comments regarding luggage assistance, the ski room and the overall experience have been noted and shared with our team, as feedback such as yours helps us continue improving the experience we offer our guests. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again to Hôtel des Dromonts for a more enjoyable stay in the future.Warm regards,The Hôtel des Dromonts Team

I am not sure who awards hotels their stars, but I think 4 stars is a bit generous... The staff on the front desk are absolutely charming and cannot do enough to help. The location is excellent, truly ski-in and out. The ski shop opposite are first class as well and the staff super friendly. However, there were several drawbacks that were disappointing. The rooms were small, the hot tub should be called a tepid tub, the acoustics of the very odd architecture mean that conversations have to be muted all the time (especially later in the evening when the staff tell you politely to be quiet - even if you're not being noisy). Beneath a very thin veneer of attempted glamour the hotel looks tired and dated. The restaurants (essentially two different rooms served by one kitchen) are ok, though one evening we had to send food back as it was stone-cold. Breakfast is standard buffet fare, again unremarkable - and the coffee tasted like the stuff you get from a motorway service station. Were it not for the friendly and hard-working staff, it would have been a very forgettable stay. Direction Dromonts, General Manager at Hotel des Dromonts by SOWELL COLLECTION, responded to this review Dear Ricardo,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback following your stay with us.We are very pleased to read your kind words about our front desk team, whose dedication and helpfulness you highlighted, as well as about our ski-in / ski-out location and the ski shop just opposite the hotel. Your compliments will certainly mean a lot to the teams. We are however sorry that some aspects of your stay did not fully meet your expectations. Hôtel des Dromonts is a historic and emblematic property in Avoriaz, with a distinctive architecture and character that are part of its identity. While many of our guests appreciate this unique atmosphere and vintage charm, we understand that it may not correspond to everyone’s expectations. We also regret the inconvenience you experienced in the restaurant and thank you for bringing it to our attention, as this is certainly not the level of experience we aim to provide.Your comments regarding the rooms, breakfast and spa facilities have been carefully noted and shared with our teams as part of our ongoing efforts to improve the guest experience. We sincerely appreciate your balanced feedback and are particularly grateful for your recognition of the work and kindness of our staff, who strive every day to make our guests’ stays as pleasant as possible.Kind regards,The Hôtel des Dromonts Team
