  Uncomfortable room and poor customer service

  We paid €60 to store two bags — more expensive than every other option nearby — while we completed a multi-day hike. When we returned to collect them, the staff member simply walked us into the storage room and told us to grab our luggage without checking our tickets or verifying any tags. We could have walked out with anyone’s belongings. There was no security process whatsoever.We had a second booking for after the hike, but returned early due to an injury in our group. We explained the situation in person at the front desk — with the injured party visibly present — and asked whether we could cancel our remaining night without penalty given the circumstances. Staff directed us to submit the request through Booking.com and said they would consider it. It was denied almost immediately. For context, every single mountain refuge along our route waived their cancellation fees without hesitation. A €15-a-night mountain hut showed more goodwill than this hotel.Like most hotels in Chamonix, there is no air conditioning — fair enough. What is not fair is being assigned a room where the ceiling slopes so severely that half the room is unusable, with no openable windows. The provided fan is decorative at best. We spent the night in a hot, airless box.Given the pricing and the near-total absence of customer services, I cannot recommend this hotel. Better options exist at the same price point, and cheaper options will likely treat you better. While we always review each request with care and empathy, we also have a responsibility to apply our cancellation policy consistently and fairly to all guests.Regarding your cancellation request, it was made after the free cancellation period had expired, meaning it was subject to our standard cancellation policy, with a 50% cancellation fee. As these conditions had been accepted at the time of booking on a third party platform, we were unfortunately unable to waive the applicable charge. We fully understand that unexpected situations can arise while travelling, which is why many travellers choose to take out travel insurance to provide additional flexibility in these circumstances.Concerning our luggage storage service, we offer a long-term storage option for guests undertaking multi-day hikes. Our pricing reflects the duration of storage as well as the limited storage capacity available within the hotel. We aim to provide a convenient service for those who wish to use it, while understanding that guests are free to choose whichever luggage storage option best suits their needs.Regarding the luggage collection process, access to the storage room is supervised by our reception team. Nevertheless, we appreciate your comments and will review our procedures to ensure they continue to provide reassurance for our guests.Finally, our hotel is housed in a traditional Alpine building, where each room is unique. Some rooms feature sloping ceilings with a skylight window that can be opened, which are part of the character of the property.   Excellent staff and location let down by small rooms and no lift

  Friendly hotel, great location

  Very friendly and helpful reception staff, nothing is too much trouble.Fantastic location a stone’s throw from the main area with shops and restaurantsRooms are typical alpine size but have everything you need.   Last minute ski trip, central Chamonix

  The location is just about centre of the walking area of Chamonix. We had two nights where late night revellers woke us from our sleep as we slept with windows open.The hotel facilities are very good with boot/skis room and spa with the biggest jacuzzi I have ever been in complimented by a sauna. They only offer breakfast but it was a good selection.We were lucky to have an extra room to our bedroom which I believe would have been accommodation for more than two people.Bathroom was limited with a sloping roof, tiny bath and shower attachment but unable to stand up. I believe the rooms are mostly different set ups and we didn’t mind too as you can shower in the spa at your leisure.Overall a good place to stay.
