Worse place in Tignes to stay, pictures don't reflect the quality. Avoid.

    rating16 Apr 2026

Awful hotel, poor quality rooms, no logs in basket as advertised and fire left full of ashes. Worktops were scratched, bathroom was very basic and nothing like the pictures. Beds uncomfortable. I wrote to complain when home and they denied me making a complaint to reception at the time, they just nodded their heads as if they'd heard it all before.

    Disappointing

    rating13 Apr 2026

POSITIVES1. Room decor - landed well and the common areas around the hotel are stylishly furnished and welcoming. 2. Food: the a la carte restaurant and the other options were of a good/very good standard each evening. Varied options and well presented. AREAS TO IMPROVE1. Check-In: everyone coming here, whether French or from elsewhere, will have had a decent drive/flight etc. Yes, the small print states check-in at 5pm but we didn't actually think we'd be held to that, having arrived around 2.30pm. The experience felt like a serviced apartment v what is an expensive hotel. 2. Room : Stylishly furnished etc but paper cups for coffee and instant sachets aren't good enough. There were thick layers of dust everywhere and rooms were serviced around 3pm or so. Given it is a ski hotel, almost every resident will be out between 10am and 3pm, not after this.3. Breakfast : this was generally poor. A lack of bowls, coffee cups or glasses. I saw several guests approach the staff and (very politely) ask for these, only to get shrugged shoulders. I get that it's quite pressured at this service but it's generally for one hour only. 4. Spa Area - the banister leading down to the jacuzzi and pool was hanging off its bearings and my son fell quite badly. Yes, not the spa staff's fault whatsoever but zero accountability or actual care. In the right hands, this hotel could return to what it was. Friends, whose opinion we value highly, assured us it had been excellent. You cannot extricate such a high room rate off people and not have any form of management visibility. Point being, my son suffered a very nasty wound to his leg and nobody felt fit to take my name and check up on him. Hopefully the team will see this and make some major improvements.

DOWN HILL - New management have ruined it

    rating13 Apr 2026

We have loved this hotel for years, which makes writing this particularly disappointing. We have stayed here for around four years and have always considered it one of our favourite family hotels. The location is fantastic and the hotel itself remains a beautiful space. Because of our positive experiences, we rebooked a year in advance to secure our preferred room. Sadly, this year’s stay left us genuinely disappointed.Whilst we noticed a slight decline in service last year, we gave the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, this visit suggested that standards have slipped further. Some of the issues we experienced included:• Being allocated the wrong room and only being informed two hours after unpacking that we may need to move• Friends in our group waiting until 5pm for their room to be ready• A noticeably reduced breakfast offering compared with previous years• Consistently slow restaurant service• Pre-booked restaurant reservations not being honoured due to a policy change communicated only on arrival• My son suffering food poisoning after dining at Chiemerie, causing him to miss two days of skiing• The removal of many of the family touches that previously made Easter stays feel special• Inconsistent housekeeping standards throughout the week• Shower gel in our room appearing to have been diluted with water• Multiple occasions where staff were abrupt or discourteous, including physical collisions without apology• Outdoor pool and jacuzzi temperatures being far below what would be expected for guest comfortIndividually, some of these issues may seem minor. Collectively, however, they created the feeling that the hotel is no longer delivering the standard of experience it once did. What is most disappointing is that this used to be a hotel we recommended without hesitation. The core ingredients are still there, but the attention to detail, service levels, and guest experience that once justified the premium price point no longer feel consistent. We left feeling disappointed rather than refreshed, which is not how you expect to feel after what should have been a special family holiday. After four years of loyalty, we are now genuinely reconsidering whether we return. In fact we wont

Slide from great to below average over 3 visits

    rating08 Apr 2026

We have been here three times. The first year it was very good, last year was almost as good. This years visit had a very strong sense of the new owners testing to see how poor they could make things without customers walking. Some good examples:1 Overall service was just poor in the main restaurant. Disorganised and unmotivated waiting staff.2 Lockers: Door lock repeatedly not working.3 Parking: total shambles. People parking across multiple bays, therefore not enough space left.4 Provided shower gel: rather than refill this over the week it was watered down so after 6 days we were washing with essentially slightly scented water. There were more examples - these are just a few. It was not a cheap stay but the value this year was not there for us and we will be looking at other options for next year sadly. Direction Générale, Propriétaire at Hotel Village Montana by Les Etincelles, responded to this review Thank you for your loyalty over the years and for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to read that your most recent stay did not meet your expectations. Your comments regarding the restaurant service, ski lockers, parking management, and in-room amenities have been taken seriously and shared with the relevant teams. We regret that you felt a decline in the overall experience, as maintaining consistent quality is a priority for us. Your feedback is essential in helping us address these concerns and improve. We are sorry to hear that you may look elsewhere next year, but we hope to have the opportunity to regain your trust in the future.

Not bad but not four stars

    rating19 Mar 2026

Not bad but not four stars. Pros: it truly is ski in and ski out. Very handy for the slopes. One boot room is very accessible, the other a walk with two flights of stairs. The rooms are spacious with nice view and balcony. Nice view at breakfast. The sauna and steam room are great, good showers and quality. Cons: this is not four star in service or provision. The hotel is a walk up a massively steep hill if you want to go anywhere. Basic amenities in the rooms, basic soap and combined shampoo conditioner. Bed sheets and towels not changed in a full week. Spa Hot tub is cold. “Heated” outdoor pool is cold. Buffet breakfast is average. Dishes are never cleared and allowed to pile up. We were b&b only, not half board, and the associated restaurants are expensive for basic food. I sent a burger back as it was stone cold and the same burger got returned to me after a blast in the microwave.cost me €21 with no apology. The pints are €13. We asked for takeaway breakfast the night before on our last day for our early transfer and were refused as “kitchen was closed”. God knows what we paid for that breakfast we never had. This hotel is no longer associated with village Montana and I suspect they’re still riding off the name of what it used to be. I suspect better value for money available elsewhere .
