Very upset and disappointed. Not worth the money

    rating13 Apr 2026

After wanting years to visit this hotel, I left feeling extremely disappointed and upset by the overall experience. From the moment we arrived, the level of customer service was poor. (Apart from reception) Staff rarely smiled, acknowledged guests, or showed any interest in customer experience. Throughout our stay, we were repeatedly given incorrect information, which caused ongoing frustration. We were initially allocated the wrong room, setting the tone for the stay. We were a family of four. Me my partner and two girls. The room was three bunk beds and a single bed. There wasn’t enough room to even put suitcases let alone get dressed ! They blamed Crystal ski and the rep did move us to a larger room after several raised words. We were then directed to the wrong ski lift bus, . ….also given incorrect information about restaurant booking times, which resulted in us missing a show we had planned. My girls were exited to see the show. When booking in we were told 7pm for show but it starts at 8pm abd we had finished on this occasion. Reported to manager who wasn’t over bothered abd gave me four ‘small drink.’ Tokens. Mainly for a small beer I don’t drink. No real care. Following this we booked correct time on the Wednesday ..Despite having a restaurant booking confirmed, we were turned away on arrival due to a private event, with no prior communication or apology. This was incredibly frustrating and unacceptable. We were also disappointed to find that there was no access to a pool or spa during our stay, which was something we had expected when booking. To close this over Easter holidays was crazy and it was so hot too. One of the reasons this hotel was booked ! On another occasion, we were told the on-site ski shop was closed, so we walked across the other side of Chamonix to hire equipment, only to later discover that the shop had actually been open the entire time. This cost is a lot more money to hire and time to walk collect and return all the ski hire. To add to this, I lost a pair of designer sunglasses during my stay. I reported this, but no one has followed up or contacted me since, which again reflects the lack of care and attention from staff. This is so upsetting and reflects the la kind care by staff here. Overall, the organisation, communication, and customer service were extremely poor. Management showed little interest in resolving the issues raised, which made the experience even more disappointing. This was a trip I had looked forward to for many years, and unfortunately, the hotel fell far short of expectations. Everything was closing down despite hotel being busy and weather great. It felt like staff were finished and clocked out. The hotel shouldn’t remain open if this is the vibe. There wasn’t one single outdoor night on terrace with DJ which again this hotel is famous for. Delete bring so busy.

    Rude. Nothing ever open.

    rating07 Apr 2026

The rooms are ok. We came for two weeks only to find the pool and spa isn’t open which wasn’t displayed on their page along with the 1969 club which caught our eye as we booked only to also find it is temporarily closed. The bars play the same couple of songs and the breakfast is bare. The most nicest people are the cleaners whom make sure we have everything we need but the rest of the staff are rude as we doing speak French. One staff member who worked outside even laughed at my fiancé for wanting a drink which was outright rude. It’s good for a couple nights stay away but you’ll have a better time in an air bnb. 2 stars.

    Looks nice, poor hotel

    rating03 Apr 2026

The vibe and looks are cool, breakfast is nice but that’s where it stops. We stayed as a family for a week which is too long for a hotel that has poor food, one restaurant, tired amenities and no where to just grab a quiet coffee if wanted. Admittedly this hotel is all about the Apres style but using this as a real hotel to stay at wears thin. Not helped by there being no shuttle service to the slopes, when the button life isn’t working. Chamonix is full of great hotels, go for a drink at the Folie but don’t stay there.

Lively hotel in the perfect location

****DO NOT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS****We stayed here for 4 nights, myself, my husband and my 21 year old daughter in one of the budget rooms with the bunk beds.I read reviews of rude staff, loud music, awful and smelly rooms, outdated spa and general bad reviews........this was not the case for us at all!The staff were very helpful and not rude in the slightest, the only negative i would give is at check in they could explain a bit more about how the hotel works, however we never asked the questions at the time either and when we did ask it was answered with a smile. It's a party hotel, there is going to be loud music, but in our room which albeit was on the 4th floor you could not hear anything after 10pm, and even then it wasn't loud, we stayed Monday to Friday morning, maybe the weekend evenings are louder but we never had any complaints. Our room was small, compact and for what we paid it was a great room, again could things be better, possibly yes, but for the price I would say it was value for money, the negatives would be not enough "big lights" around the cupboard area at night, it is very dark and we used our phone torches to see in the cupboard, better ventilation in the toilet/shower room would be helpful and maybe take out a shelf in the cupboard and put in a rail to hang clothes........on the positive side the room has ample storage, plenty hot water (some reviews said no hot water), bedside lights, comfy enough bed, very clean, cleaners every day, dressing gowns and slippers which is great for using the spa.The spa is great, we did one of the yoga/pilates evening class for 20 euros each, it was great to do after a day on the slopes, we used the swimming pool which yes is not the hottest but it was 26 degrees which is perfect for if you are swimming, the sauna is great and the spa is not outdated at all, we really enjoyed it.The location is what makes this hotel so special, it's next to a nursery slope with a button tow, you take this up to the main gondola lift and off you go for your day. You can get your lift passes at a ticket machine within the hotel and you can get your ski hire downstairs in the hotel, there's also a wee ski shop if you need any bits and pieces. We went to 2 of the restaurants in the hotel, Le Mayen (the cheese restaurant) and le petite cuisine......now we know why some of the reviews said the elevators smelled of cheese, they are right next to the cheese restaurant!! Le Petite cuisine is where you get the entertainment in the evening, it's great to watch while you're having dinner, and if you stay on till about 10.30/11pm, you will dance the evening away with them, it's great fun. You can also have breakfast at Le Petite, it's a huge buffet that would satisfy any appetite, we really enjoyed it.All in all I would absolutely go back to Le Folie Douche, it's maybe not for everybody but if you want a lively hotel in the evening that is in perfect location for the slopes then go here, you will not be dissappointed!!

Folie yes, but certainly not Douce ! Wanna sleep peacefully ? This hotel is not for you. The rooms are rather spartan, but above all very poorly soundproofed. Every time a door slams, the whole floor seems to shake! My neighbour sneezed and I said “bless you” to my wife… that’s how thin the walls are. Extrêmement difficulté to sleep before 1am and after 8am. No room service, and in fact not even a phone to contact reception. No fridge and no proper wardrobe, all of this quite embarassing for this 4 star hotel “Premier” room priced at €465 in March. The staff however is nice and helpful...but overbusy. And the location is convenient next to the city center.
