    Rude, unhelpful & arrogant.

Buisiness trip with colleague (both of us are professional females) scoping potential for rural development partnership. Arrived into village and began scoping exercise. Had long day and wanted dinner before retiring. Arrived at this hotel restaurant - which was half empty- at 7 minutes past 9pm. To be very rudely turned away as “kitchen closed at 9pm” when we asked (in French) if he could recommend somewhere else we could get food he shrugged his shoulders and pointed out the door to a “pizza” place out there!! In the words of “pretty woman” BIG mistake, HUGE”. We actually got a lovely simple dinner in the village the opposite way to where he pointed. Arrogant, unnecessary and letting this lovely village down 😔

    Wonderful stay good food

Even though the rooms could do with an update, we had a pleasant stay. The location of the hotel is excellent within walking distance you will find the palais de cheval and you can take a refreshing dip in the small river nearby. The terrace is beautyful at night and the hotel serves nice french cuisine. Good value for money and wonderful staff.

A comfortable stay for a night

    rating04 Aug 2016

Easy to find and even though we do not speak French the best efforts were made to make us comfortable. It is quite a dark hotel inside but has a lovely outdoor dining area. They had trouble with their internet system and we had trouble trying to log on and in fact I never managed to.The meal was excellent but we were presented with a small appetiser (as were all other tables) after we ordered but were not aware until we paid the next morning that it was not complimentary and in fact cost us 18 euros. There is an excellent bakery across the road which serves coffee, orange juice, croissant and half a bagette for breakfast and cost just 4.50 euro.

    A very nice stay

Hauterives is a very pleasant and peaceful small town, worth staying overnight in. The entire area has pretty scenery. We stayed here one night, in town of course to visit Le Palaid Idéal du Factueur Cheval. The main hotel building of Le Relais is very nice and well kept (they also have a few quaint gypsy-style wooden caravans one can stay in outside). The setting is central, near the church, and it is only a 10-minute walk to Facteur Cheval. The welcome was professional and efficient. The parking is gated and secured at night. We had drinks on the nice little terrace outside and ate at the restaurant for dinner, which has innovative cooking that was quite good. I had tasty magret de canard (duck). The hotel has a large lazy and friendly dog in residence. All in all, a very nice visit and I would certainly stay here again if I were to return to the area.

    Good but with some defects

    rating24 Apr 2014

Hotel Relais is a very nice hotel with a very good restaurant. Is located close the "Palay Ideal" and can be reached in 5 minutes walking. For foreign like me, that does not speaks French is a bit difficult communicate with the receptionist (owners). They speaks a bit of english but very little bit. When you book the room is better to check if bathroom is inside the room(shower and water). I had bad surprise, water-closet was not in the room. If you would like to eat something special, translate it on english and write it to show to the receptionist. They will ask chef to make it for you. There are Available roulotte but the only problem is missing internet. Inside they are more nicer than room itselfes.
