  Don't expert entertainment, and if You don 't speak french, it's not easy to get heard and understand people. It's a good climb from the city centre.

  €8,000Wasted – Zero Flexibility from the Hotel Despite a Medical Emergency

  ?I am deeply disappointed by my experience with Etincelles Collection regarding my booking at Hotel Village Montana.?During an exceptionally difficult period, while I was caring for my mother as she underwent intensive chemotherapy treatment, I missed the deadline for a penalty-free cancellation by just a few days for a reservation I had made several months earlier. At that time, my full attention was understandably focused on my mother's health.?The reservation was for myself and three friends, totalling approximately €8,000. As the responsibility for managing this booking was entirely mine, I accepted full financial responsibility—a burden that continues to weigh heavily on me to this day—and did not ask my friends to share the loss.?Over the following three months, I contacted the hotel on numerous occasions and provided official medical documentation explaining the exceptional circumstances. I did not insist on a full cash refund; instead, I remained open to any reasonable solution they could offer to resolve the matter, ranging from a partial refund to a credit voucher for a future stay the following year.?At one point, after approximately ten days without reaching a resolution, a chargeback was mistakenly initiated due to a misunderstanding regarding the credit card charges. Within two days, the error was realized, the request was immediately cancelled, and the hotel was informed before the chargeback process had even reached them. Although the administrative process of restoring the payment took approximately two weeks, the hotel advised me that any discussion regarding a possible gesture of goodwill or compensation would only resume after the original payment had been fully reinstated.?Once the payment was restored, I continued my request in good faith. I also explained that Booking.com had agreed to waive its commission. Nevertheless, the hotel ultimately decided not to make any exception to its cancellation policy and retained the full payment of approximately €8,000 for a stay that never took place. The cancellation request was submitted only a few days after the deadline and approximately three weeks before the planned arrival date, during the peak ski season.?I fully respect that businesses have cancellation policies. However, I had hoped that, in light of the documented medical emergency and the particular circumstances of my case, some flexibility or a goodwill gesture would have been considered.?I am sharing my personal experience so that other travellers can make their own informed decisions.

  The decoration of the hotel is lovely but the carpets are in need of a deep clean. Great breakfast. However the need to pay a caution for a hotel stay (300 euros for 2 nights) was very off putting.
