Disappointing Return Visit

Enjoyed our experience here last year so booked again….sad to say it was disappointing. On arrival staff seemed a little distant and left us standing. Asked for an upper floor room…was given a first floor. Bathroom was very small and looking worn around the edges….although the big towels were welcome. Bed was comfortable and the air-con good. An armchair in a very small room didn’t help and a child being allowed to run around the room above stamping its feet wasn’t particularly welcome either. Last year staff were really friendly and saying hello, this time they seemed more happy avoiding you. 200 euro a night? Really? Can’t see us heading back and as for a 5 star stay…..far from it..

Overall a nice stay. Lots to recommend, nice rooms, good breakfast, pleasant bar area. But there were just a few issues that let the place down. Minor niggles but ones you don't expect from a 5* hotel. When raised the staff generally reacted well but one would rather not have to raise them in the first place. The pool and pool area is small so be aware it will not be somewhere where you will likely want to spend too long there. Location is very good, a nice 10 min walk to the port with lots of good bars / restaurants even closer.

Enjoyable stay but a dubious rating

We stayed here for 2 nights in August. First impressions were OK. The entrance is welcoming and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We were offered a welcome glass of prosecco and drank this by the pool. We did not use the pool. It is OK for a kiddies splash about. We did notice cigarette ends in ashtrays and pools of water on tables. A 5* hotel would be attending to these things. There are only 2 check in desks in the hotel. When we went back to be shown to our room there was a bit of a queue. I could see this been problematic at busy times.We stayed in room 105. The bed was a super king and comfortable. The bottled water was a nice touch as was the pod coffee machine. There were some nice touches to the room (robes, vanity kits and bespoke bath products) but NO ironing board?? The climate control worked really well. However, there was black damp on the ceiling of the bathroom and a picture in a frame was wonky. Again these small touches equate to 5 star ratings. We never ate in the restaurant but did have a couple of drinks which was pleasant and a nice setting.The hotel is really well situated with the bustling port a 10 minute walk away.The hotel staff are very young. Had small things not niggled me it would have been full stars. I would say it is a 4+ star hotel. We would stay here again.

So great location, great staff, concierge very helpful.Bikes excellentValet parking.Pool is nowhere near as big as photos.Breakfast expensive.Aircon non existent, was 28 in room. Avoid at all costs . We stayed less than 2 hours This is NOT a five star hotel . The pool is the size of a plunge pool there is about 6 sunbeds around it and people waiting desperately to grab one . When we arrived we were horrified there was a large group of people standing drinking beer from glasses in the pool and shouting and swearing people carrying bags of food from a sandwich shop to eat around the pool. The rooms are dull dark and very corporate - not in a good way We left after two hours it was an awful experience . Thankfully the young manager was helpful in accommodating our request to leave and we were only booked for one night .
