Reasonably priced apartments

Quite hard to find appartments as they are within a complex near university. On arrival Cindy was really helpful and welcoming and showed us where to park. Apartment was basic but had hob kettle microwave etc.Approx 15-20 mins walk into town and about 20 mins walk to the beach & marina. Can get a water taxi from marina to city centre & back for €3 each way which was great. Did not bother with breakfast but all staff were very friendly.

We have been travelling around Europe for a year now. The BEST aparthotel we have stayed at. Staff were excellent. We arrived earlier than stated but the woman on Reception was great, checked our room was ready (which it was); even if it wasn't, could leave our very large backpacks. Has a laundry (for 6€, our clothes washed and dried - excellent for us backpackers). The local area was great. Yeah, you are on Uni Campas but this is great; plenty of shops and eating places around. A pleasant walk down to the town or beaches. Was super clean and comfortable. If we come again, would stay here, no worries at all. Thank you. Nice location Bed could be better

Location is very good close to plage des minimes, Staff is friendly. Only downside was the bed which is a convertible sofa which is not too comfy. Good value for money! There is plenty of free parking at the cinema or at the university. The hotel is conveniently located on walking distance from a city Carrefour.

Acommodation comfortable for the price as we had a double bed, but our friends had a sofa bed not so comfortable, everything you need for a short stay. Short walk to restaurants. Only problem was finding the place, took about half an hour, and we parked on the street outside hotel, one morning several cars had glass smashed, we also had a dent in the car. Would pay for private parking if went there again, but quite expensive, prob best to find a hotel with private parking included in price.

A home away from home

This was a very nice surprise after three weeks of travel and staying at several other hotels in the 3 to 4 star range. This hotel packs a lot of value for the relatively small fee it charges. The room was spacious, well appointed and clean. The room I was in on the ground floor was very quiet. It had twin beds which were comfortable. The kitchenette was fully equipped with everything needed for a short stay: a fridge, two burners stove top, microwave oven, coffee maker, and enough dishes, cutlery, glasses, pots and pans to cook for four persons. The bathroom was small but not cramped. An assortment of soap, shampoo and cream as well as plush towels were provided, but no hair dryer. TV was large and provided a good selection of channels. Furniture was new and modern. Everything was spotless clean. There is Wi-Fi but it is slow. (Better to get a Domino internet access pod from Orange at a minimal cost and carry it with you...) The hotel is situated away from the hustle and bustle, in the middle of the Science campus of the La Rochelle University. There is no view to speak of (on the ground floor where I was) but the complex is in a very quiet setting surrounded by flowering fields and large trees. It is not downtown nor is it in the touristic area of La Rochelle, so figure on spending some time going back and forth. There is a Carrefour grocery store nearby to stock up, and several small restaurant, specially near the yacht club installations. The hotel is a scant 5 minutes walk to the boat shuttle which takes you to the Old Port (costs 1 Euro), and to the boat shuttle which takes you to the Minimes beach and yacht club (2 Euros). If you are in La Rochelle for a sailing meet, this is an ideal location for you. There is also a city bus called Illico which takes you downtown La Rochelle. If you prefer to walk, the scenic route (a 15-20 minutes walk stopping often to take picture...) will take you to the harbour area next to the aquarium. The staff was courteous, helpful, and made me feel welcome. I stayed there 4 nights and will certainly go back.
