  Birthday break

  08 Jan 2026

My husband booked this for my birthday. The hotel is close to old town which is good for restaurants. Hotel staff are polite and the staff in restaurant for breakfast are very polite, the disappointment is the cost to park your car and also there are no usb ports in room Samuel RANSON, Service clients/Réception at Couvent des Minimes - Alliance Lille, responded to this review Dear Marierenshaw,Thank you for choosing our hotel to celebrate your birthday and for taking the time to share your experience. Not a place to stay if you want quality

  23 Dec 2025

We were bitterly disappointed with this hotel. It has so much to offer given its history and parts of it are really lovely. Our comfort room was very dated and very dark. There were significant stains on the carpet and we could not get the air con to work. Strangely there are no power points near the bed which I need for my sleep machine. We had booked for 6 nights and checked out after the first night to go to much better and more expensive hotel. When we told the management that we weren't staying they didn't even bother to ask why. It was as if this is not an uncommon experience for them. We ate in the restaurant and our experience here was equally unsatisfactory. It was understaffed and the food was not nice at all. One redeeming feature is that is close to the Old Town Samuel RANSON, Service clients/Réception at Couvent des Minimes - Alliance Lille, responded to this review Dear Explore09433558979,We thank you for sharing your experience, although we sincerely regret your disappointment. We regret that some aspects of the room and restaurant did not meet your expectations. Your comments have been forwarded to the relevant teams to identify the necessary improvements.Following your decision to leave the establishment after the first night, we would like to clarify that a commercial gesture was immediately granted: the remaining five nights of your stay were cancelled and offered free of charge, in order to take into account your dissatisfaction. We remain attentive to our guest feedback and committed to offering solutions when any issues arise. We appreciate your positive feedback regarding our location near the old town.Best regards,Samuel - Ass. Front Office Manager

Needs refurbishment but still had a lovely stay

  13 Sept 2025

There is no doubt this hotel is dated and needs refurbishment, the bedrooms are tired and lack things we now come to expect such as sockets by the bed to charge phones bathrooms are very tired BUT showers are good rooms are large and quiet and beds are comfortable. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The central space is really good, atmospheric and well zoned. We liked the piano playing, the warm lighting and lovely cloisters. We found drinks and food to be very reasonably priced and good value. For us it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Don't be put off unless you really need shiny and new. The location is excellent. Samuel RANSON, Service clients/Réception at Couvent des Minimes - Alliance Lille, responded to this review Dear Honestsgt,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your stay with us. Your feedback is invaluable as it helps us continue to improve our services. We are delighted to read that, despite some aspects that you found dated, you still had a pleasant and relaxing stay. Your appreciation of the comfort of the beds, the quietness of the rooms, the welcome from our team, and the warm atmosphere particularly touches us. It is a pleasure to know that the charm of our establishment and the attention paid to our guests made the difference. We take note of your comments regarding the general condition of the rooms and bathrooms. We are aware that some facilities could use some renovation, and please be aware that improvement projects are being considered to better meet the expectations of our modern guests, while maintaining the authentic character of our establishment. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Lille.Kind regards,Samuel - Ass. Avoid. Misleading advertising.

  04 Sept 2025

Currently staying in room 215 which, contrary to their advertising does not have air conditioning. There is an aircon unit in the room but it is broken. Having explained to the duty manager that we specifically booked because due to health reasons we require a cooler temp, he advised us that he would check if there was another room available. He didn‘t bother so I approached him in reception when he said nothing else was available. I asked for a refund so that we could move to another hotel. He refused. On returning to the room after dinner, the temp was 27° so my husband asked for an additional fan. Again he didn‘t come back to us. So, here we sit, sweltering in an airless room with no prospect of any sleep. The windows face the internal enclosed atrium and although they open, there is another secondary window which doesn‘t, so basically there is no ventilation.Additionally, although the room is spacious it is tired with no drawer storage, a small hanging space and areas of damage to ceiling and paintwork. Carpets are stained. Apalling customer service, misleading advertising and overall to be avoided. Samuel RANSON, Service clients/Réception at Couvent des Minimes - Alliance Lille, responded to this review Dear ENICI62,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry to learn that your stay did not meet your expectations. We understand your frustration regarding the air conditioning. While there was indeed an air conditioning unit in your room, it unfortunately malfunctioned during your stay, which we deeply regret. We are aware of the importance of temperature control, especially for health reasons, and we sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. However, please note that our establishment is located in a building listed as a historical monument. This designation imposes strict regulations, particularly regarding technical modifications and renovations. Any work on the building's equipment, structure, or windows requires specific permits, which can significantly delay repair or replacement work. Finally, we have taken note of your comments regarding the overall condition of the room. While renovation work is planned, adhering to heritage preservation standards, we will forward your observations to the relevant departments to help improve our services. We thank you once again for your feedback, as it helps us to improve.Kind regards,Samuel - Ass.
