  My husband booked this for my birthday. The hotel is close to old town which is good for restaurants.   Not a place to stay if you want quality

  We were bitterly disappointed with this hotel. It has so much to offer given its history and parts of it are really lovely. Our comfort room was very dated and very dark. There were significant stains on the carpet and we could not get the air con to work. Strangely there are no power points near the bed which I need for my sleep machine. We had booked for 6 nights and checked out after the first night to go to much better and more expensive hotel. When we told the management that we weren't staying they didn't even bother to ask why. It was as if this is not an uncommon experience for them. We ate in the restaurant and our experience here was equally unsatisfactory. It was understaffed and the food was not nice at all.   Needs refurbishment but still had a lovely stay

  There is no doubt this hotel is dated and needs refurbishment, the bedrooms are tired and lack things we now come to expect such as sockets by the bed to charge phones bathrooms are very tired BUT showers are good rooms are large and quiet and beds are comfortable. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The central space is really good, atmospheric and well zoned. We liked the piano playing, the warm lighting and lovely cloisters. We found drinks and food to be very reasonably priced and good value. For us it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Don't be put off unless you really need shiny and new. The location is excellent.   Avoid. Misleading advertising.

  Currently staying in room 215 which, contrary to their advertising does not have air conditioning. There is an aircon unit in the room but it is broken. Having explained to the duty manager that we specifically booked because due to health reasons we require a cooler temp, he advised us that he would check if there was another room available. He didn‘t bother so I approached him in reception when he said nothing else was available. I asked for a refund so that we could move to another hotel. He refused.On returning to the room after dinner, the temp was 27° so my husband asked for an additional fan. Again he didn‘t come back to us. So, here we sit, sweltering in an airless room with no prospect of any sleep. The windows face the internal enclosed atrium and although they open, there is another secondary window which doesn‘t, so basically there is no ventilation.Additionally, although the room is spacious it is tired with no drawer storage, a small hanging space and areas of damage to ceiling and paintwork. Carpets are stained. Apalling customer service, misleading advertising and overall to be avoided.
