Location

The hotel is in the heart of Lille, near the Grand Place (100 m) and the old town. The Beaux Arts Museum and General De Gaulle Museum are both located 500 m from the hotel. Lille Airport is 10 km away from the hotel, whilst Brussels and Charles de Gaulle airports are 130 and 180 km away respectively.

The hotel has 42 single rooms and 104 double rooms, which are located on 6 storeys and are reachable by lift. Guests are warmly welcomed by multilingual staff (English, German, French) at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Rooms

    Loved this hotel and would recommend to anyone travelling to Lille.

    Myself and three friends booked this hotel a long time ago. When it got closer to our trip away I started looking at recent reviews and I was really starting to worry that I had booked the wrong place. HOWEVER! I couldn’t have been more wrong. We loved this hotel and would not hesitate to come back. We all had our own room. Very spacious. Clean and comfortable. The shower is a bit old fashioned. Not amazing but it did the job. One friend loved that there was a bath. The hotel itself is beautiful. Ok the big Novotel sign outside makes it look cheap but the inside is lovely. I loved the bar area and loved sitting there with a glass of wine waiting for the other to join. Breakfast in the morning was great. Lots of choice and really chilled. Definitely one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had. I loved that there were jugs and water you could get in the foyer and take up to your room. Never had that in a hotel before. When checking in we were given free tickets to the big ferris wheel in the square nearby which was very much appreciated. Staff were lovely throughout and both check in and check out were quick and easy. The hotel was 20 minutes walk fromThe station and the old town is literally a minute away if you turn right outside of the hotel. Overall I cannot fault this hotel. I absolutely loved it and would recommend to anyone visiting Lille.     Definitely not a 4 star hotel, but good location

    We booked for a family of 3, upon arrival and check in, the extra bed wasn’t made - the lady at reception then came to make the 3rd bed. Handed us some extra towels which we filthy, so had to then change these too. Room is very dated, and generally in need of some upkeep (stained bath/sink, poor tiling, chipboard wallpaper. Not what is expected of Novotel having stayed at a few before, this was disappointing. Good location for city though, but car park is a good 5 min walk away which is something to be aware of if you have luggage to move.     Centrally located hotel. Clean rooms and friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was well laid out with plenty of choice. We did not eat in the hotel in the evenings but there is a bar.

    Lack of air con in heatwave spoiled our stay

    My wife & I stayed at this hotel for three nights, Monday 23 - Wednesday 25 June. On its website the hotel states it is ‘Air conditionné’. This is something very important to me, whatever the time of year, given how hot hotel rooms usually get even in winter. As our luck would have it, we arrived during a heatwave. I tried the AC on night 1 & cold air did not emerge. I enquired & was informed that the hotel had been caught out by the heat wave & was, in effect, still on winter setting! That a hotel would seek to prevent guests from cooling their rooms at any time of the year, let alone in June, is outrageous penny pinching. To reassure myself I re-enquired the next day & was told it would actually be Thursday before the AC worked. In the lifts there is a sign that reads ‘19°C: the ideal temperature for a comfortable night’. And yet the hotel was quite prepared to force guests to sleep in rooms where the temperature was more like 29°c. What appalling hypocrisy.We were offered a fan, which we accepted, but suffice it to say this was not on a par with properly functioning AC. And there was no offer of financial compensation in the form of a reduction on the bill.So, if you want ‘proper’ AC, not just AC set to save hotel money, best to check it will actually be available before booking here.Less importantly, many of the USB charging ports in our room did not seem to work & v few plug sockets.Positives:- Well located for tourism.- Room, bathroom etc of a reasonable size & standard but limited storage space; having sheets on the bed as well as duvet welcome; little in the way of ‘external’ (to the room) noise.- Bar offered useful range of reasonably priced snacks.- Breakfast, much as one would expect: good range etc but my wife informs me the baked beans were cold (I did not try anything cooked/heated). Overall, were it not for the disgusting position regarding AC I would have given this hotel a quite positive review.
