    Great hotel, great staff, a bit funky.

    I very much enjoyed my stay at the Boscalo Hotel in Lyon last week. The staff were just excellent. Every one of them. The room was extremely clean and they even cleaned twice per day. The view was amazing and the room by European standards was huge. The large windows opened to a magnicent view of the Rhone River. Just lovely. The bed was large (amazing for my European experience). The shower was great. There's also a pool, sauna and steam room on the ground floor which I didn't use but looked clean and quite usable. I didn't take advantage of the breakfast, so can't speak to that.However, a few points where they could improve. The room was large but there were no dressers which made the room feel empty and bare. The bedside lights were positioned such that I had to hold my book over the bed's edge to read. The attached restaurant (and room service) was very expensive.The hotel has a lot to be proud of--excellent staff and a great facility. A little more focus on the room's decor would have pushed my rating from a 4 to a 5.

    A VERY nice hotel, with special note of service to Paulina at the front desk and David who helped us with every small detail. The checkout was a bit chaotic managing the Amex benefits, but more than offset by the comfort of the room. Special attention to the amazing spa downstairs and in particular, Ines the masseuse!     Our “Executive River View” room was a soulless room with two interconnecting doors to neighbouring rooms on either side - single doors with no sound proofing so you could hear every time a neighbour spoke or moved a coat hanger, let alone when they tried the door in the middle of the night, on both sides! Add the bad drain smell in the bathroom and a TV with no reception and it was a lot of money for a poor experience but a great breakfast.
