  No Empathy for Stranded Travelers - Avoid at All Costs

  I am writing this to warn any international traveler, especially families, to think twice before booking this hotel.I booked a stay for my mother and me, but my airline unexpectedly discontinued the entire flight route from my city to Lyon. It is now physically impossible for us to reach the hotel. There are no other direct flights available. To reach Lyon now, we would be forced to take multiple connecting flights, turning a simple trip into an exhausting and expensive ordeal that is simply not feasible for my elderly mother.I provided official airline proof of this "Force Majeure" situation immediately. While I understand "non-refundable" policies are for people who change their minds, I expected a reputable hotel to show basic human decency when a guest is stranded by a discontinued international route. I didn't even demand all my money back, I asked for a date change or a smaller fee.They refused everything. They chose to keep 100% of a young woman and her old mother’s money for a room they know we cannot physically reach, rather than offering even a small gesture of goodwill.It is clear this management cares more about a few euros than their reputation or their guests. If you want a hotel that will support you if your travel plans go wrong, DO NOT BOOK HERE. They are happy to take your money and offer zero flexibility or empathy during a crisis.Response to management: Don't bother replying with your "terms and conditions" script. You had the chance to be human and chose to be a robot. You’ve lost a customer for life. I'm sorry you felt compelled to spend your, I assume precious time, to rant and rave again. Non refundable rates are not "for people who change their minds". They are legally binding indeed. To all. No exceptions. Having your feeling hurt does not make you right. Also, let me quote from yourself on Booking.com : "I want to clarify that I specifically booked a non-refundable rate".   The hotel staff here are simply unwelcoming, they don’t care about guests comfort nor their satisfaction. Very rude in dealing with customers. You were out of line from the moment you started to interact with us. We are under no obligation to check you in before 14:30, as set out in the terms and conditions of your reservation. As we were fully booked the previous night, we went above and beyond to try and accommodate you, even though former guests could stay in their rooms until midday. The staff was extremely upset to have been treated so poorly and violently as they were trying to help.How funny and revealing is the fact you mention our rooms being small as you never set foot in them since you cancelled, the proof of which we have on file.Have some respect. I will not tolerate awful people behaving badly towards my staff in my hotel, using alleged prejudice as a petty excuse for their appalling conduct.Also, I will let the readers appreciate how your affabulations change depending on where you spread your bile.Julien PEGONGeneral Manager

  Good value for money basic hotel

  A decent budget hotel located about 20 to 25 mins walk from the main historic centre of Lyon (a pleasant walk, crossing two rivers, or a very short metro ride). Facilities are basic (no safe or fridge), but rooms clean and reasonably spacious. We didn't have the breakfast here but they do a simple budget version as well as the usual buffet. Very pleasant English speaking staff. We were able to check in early, and to leave our luggage in storage after checking out. Would recommend if you are not intending to spend much time in your hotel (why would you in Lyon) and don't want to spend too much on accommodation. Price very reasonable for the height of season.   Rooms are very cold and no parking at the hotel (you have to make a reservation at another parking which only works in digital). Be carefull because the parking is only 1.8 m in height.At least the personal is nice, even they are complaining about the cold.   Comfortable corporate hotel. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. In a good position for the tram stop at Guillotiere which runs to the main station. Easy access to the river and other attractions, plus the shopping streets. Good city centre hotel.
