    Let down by certain details

    rating03 Mar 2026

This hotel is located a bit of a walk out from Central Lyon but is in amongst a lot of restaurants and served well by public transport. The breakfast was very good. However a few things let it down - the sound proofing is poor for what is a very noisy location thanks to the concerts going on at the amphitheatre next door. The room was uncomfortably hot with the air-conditioning switching itself off after a few minutes and not wanting to open the window and make it noisier. They also switched the water off for several hours overnight on our last night - a known outage but no bottled water was offered during this time. Not quite the location for the Old Town

    rating24 Feb 2026

An average hotel on the outskirts of Lyon. We arrived from the Airport in an Uber for around 34€. Check in was quick and we were assigned a room which was upgraded to a one bedroom suite. This was much appreciated as a Diamond Elite IHG Rewards member. Though I personally found the rooms and design a bit dated. It would be normal in a 4 star hotel to have a plug point next to the bed to charge your phone. Sadly this isn’t the case here. There was a fruit bowl left and a couple of soft drinks and some crisps which was a nice thought. The aircon wasn’t on cool mode, but the windows opened which was also appreciated.Breakfast was busy but nice quality food and juice and the design of the restaurant was lovely. It’s a shame that this theme did not spread through the rest of the hotel. We were pushed for time so used uber rather than public transport. It was too far to walk into the Old Town and an Uber was around €11 one way. Obviously this is not the Intercontinental, but for the rate paid, keep in mind that it’s really just a Conference hotel which needs a bit of updating and you’ll be fine! I can say we were well looked after. Relations Client, Propriétaire at Crowne Plaza Lyon - Cite Internationale By IHG, responded to this review Dear M. Comme ci comme ca

    rating22 Dec 2025

We were upgraded to a premier room, I am not sure how much more basic the standard room could have been though. The bed was huge which was good because the aircon didn't work, it was too noisy to leave the window open and it was very hot. It was all a little bit scruffy around the edges. I think it is the very basic orange/brown furniture that makes it look like a university halls of residence. The hot beverage tray is quite good, but there were spaces where there should have been more tea bags which made it look a bit stingy, there were 2 different ones provided. There was a dog barking on and off most of the afternoon about 3 door down which was very annoying as we had travelled a long way and needed a rest which we didn't get. The room over looked the river....and the bins, it is quite scruffy outside too. The blackout curtains were good! Parking is a lot at 15€ Relations Client, Propriétaire at Crowne Plaza Lyon - Cite Internationale By IHG, responded to this review Dear Guest, I sincerely regret your dissatisfaction. Without your confirmation number or name, I am unable to identify the details of your stay. This information would have allowed me to identify the room number to ensure that the ventilation issue had been resolved since your stay. Regarding the dog, you could have contacted the front desk. They are available 24 hours a day to help our guests resolve any issues they may encounter. Allow me to take this opportunity to wish you all the best for the new year.Best regards.Karin - Quality Coordinator

It's been a while since we were last here...

    rating15 Sept 2025

A number of changes since our last visit which was some time ago, namely a significant renovation! Rooms were comfortable and to a good standard - bathroom fitments, beds, linen, etc. Not sure I like to refurb in the bar/restaurant; a bit 'cafeteria' with not a lot of atmosphere! Good breakfast in the morning though. Convenient & secure underground below the building but could do with a bit more signage to locate the access near the hotel. The big draw back for me is if you are not specifically coming to Cite International, ie. you are visiting Lyon, it is a fair way out of the city and there is not a lot of local culture or cuisine nearby! CP_CITELyon, at Crowne Plaza Lyon - Cite Internationale By IHG, responded to this review Dear Richard,Thank you for sharing your experience and opinion regarding the renovation of the bar/restaurant.I am sorry that this space is not to your liking.Nevertheless, I hope that we will welcome you back if you plan to return to Lyon or stop here on your way to your vacation destination, to enjoy a comfortable room and quality bedding.Best regards.Karin - Quality Coordinator

Need to remember that this is really a conference hotel

    rating12 Jul 2025

We chose the hotel for the secure parking not realising that it was a good distance from the city centre and in a quite bizarre location as part of a conference centre. The good news is that a trolley bus service from immediately outside provides great links in and out of town. The absence of vehicular access to the hotel door was a challenge, apparently caused by a technical issue with barriers, and so the provision of a suitably sized luggage trolley helped enormously. Progress to the underground parking was a little complex even once in the car park! But it was secure and worth the money. The front desk staff were helpful throughout which was much more than could be said for their restaurant colleagues. We stayed for two nights and had dinner on the first night only. This was a really mixed occasion in terms of both food and service. Breakfasts are a free for all augmented by a team of not very helpful people who seemed to have been selected for their surly attitudes. The food offering was adequate. The room? My recollection is that it was possibly a little tired but had everything we needed and was more than large enough for two people with a pile of luggage. On balance? Not a place to warrant a swift return visit from us. However, if you are attending a conference there, why not? Relations Client, Propriétaire at Crowne Plaza Lyon - Cite Internationale By IHG, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I regret that the Hospitality was not as expected in our restaurant. This is not the way we want to welcome our guests in Crowne Plaza Hotels. I shared your feedback with our catering manager to discuss your feeling with the team.I sincerely hope, we will welcome you again to change your mind about the service. Feel free to contact me.
