  Deceptive advertising and dishonest management — DO NOT STAY HERE

  I am writing this review to warn other travelers about the dishonest practices of this Ibis hotel and its management. I stayed at Ibis Lyon Part Dieu on April 27, 2026.I selected and paid for this hotel specifically because "air conditioning" was prominently advertised on their booking website as an available amenity for my stay in April 2026. There were absolutely no warnings regarding seasonal or building-wide restrictions.During the night, my room became unbearably hot, making it impossible to sleep. At 2:00 AM, I went to the front desk to complain. The night receptionist explicitly admitted to me that there was an issue with the air conditioning system in the entire building. She moved me to a second room, but because of the building-wide issue, that room also had no functional cooling.The situation was so unacceptable that I was forced to pack my bags, check out in the middle of the night, and check into a different Ibis hotel at 3:30 AM just to find a climate-controlled room where I could sleep.When I requested a refund for this failed service, the hotel manager flatly refused. Shockingly, the management is now attempting to rewrite history. In writing, they claim that the air conditioning was functioning normally, completely contradicting the explicit admission made by their own front-desk staff on duty that night. I would not have changed to another hotel at 3:30 AM if the first Ibis was comfortable enough to sleep.Under French Consumer Law (Article L121-2), a business must be honest; advertising an essential amenity that you know is deactivated or broken is a misleading commercial practice.The management of this property is deceptive, untruthful, and refuses to take corporate responsibility for their service failures. I have escalated this formal dispute to the French consumer authorities (SignalConso) and Le Médiateur du Tourisme et du Voyage which has not helped. Avoid this specific hotel at all costs—they will take your money and lie to cover up their mistakes. In addition, we have no record of a guest leaving the hotel in the middle of the night or being relocated due to an air conditioning issue on the date mentioned.We would also like to reassure future travelers that our air conditioning system is fully operational and functioning correctly within the hotel.As Lyon Part-Dieu area includes four different Ibis hotels located near the station, it is possible that there may have been some confusion regarding the property concerned by your experience.We nevertheless regret that you had a negative experience during your stay in Lyon and sincerely wish you the best for your future travels.

  Overall - positive experience. Amazing staff!

  I recently stayed at the Ibis and overall had a positive experience.The highlight was definitely the staff, extremely friendly and welcoming. Armelle at breakfast was always kind and smiling, which truly made a difference. Cyril at the night reception was very professional and attentive. There was also another receptionist, around 35 years old, slightly graying hair and wearing glasses. I unfortunately did not catch his name, but he was very friendly and helpful.The breakfast was excellent, one of the best I have experienced at an Ibis. The madeleines, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, added a special touch.The room was small but acceptable considering the age of the building. The downside was the maintenance, there was mold in the bathroom and a lot of dirt under the sink. The location is not the most pleasant, but it matches the price, which is significantly lower than other hotels in the city.I understand that there are renovated rooms available and I believe the investment is worthwhile, as room maintenance was the only aspect that truly impacted my experience.   Perfect for Gare Part-Dieu

  This Ibis met our needs perfectly for a few nights in Lyon on our way home from Spain by train. Very convenient for Gare Part Dieu. The hotel is clean, staff very friendly & helpful and the bar area is nice for an evening drink. This is a 3* so no frills, if you want big rooms, thick fluffy towels etc stay somewhere else! Breakfast is fine but not amazing. We didn’t eat in the restaurant. Would stay here again if travelling to Lyon by train.

  We stayed with a school group of 22 and had a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable—nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were clean and well-equipped, and the location was ideal for our needs. Breakfasts were fresh, varied, and a great way to start each day. Organising a large group can be challenging, but the hotel made everything smooth and stress-free. Their friendly service and attention to detail really stood out. We felt welcome and well cared for throughout our stay. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again with a group. A truly wonderful stay!
