    Bedbugs

    rating28 Sept 2022

We booked and paid a 6 days-long stay in the Ibis budget Lyon Caluire Cité Internationale in July 2022. The room was basic (not so much space, but OK for the price), but also relatively dirty. After two nights, we were severely bitten allover our bodies and discovered many (ca 15) bedbugs in our beds. We immediately moved out and requested our money back. The hotel manager gave us a written confirmation that the money will be transferred to our account within 3 weeks. So far (after 2 months) we did not get our money back – we tried to reach the hotel by phone or email at least 10 times. We definitely do not recommend this hotel to anybody! In contrast, we highly recommend the BB hotel next door – very friendly staff, very clean, the price only slightly higher than Ibis.

    Too bad!

    rating16 Jul 2020

This must be the worst ibis Budget or low-cost hotel I’ve ever spent a night in (and I have been to many in several European cities). The property is very badly maintained, and does not even provide the basics you expect of a B&B. Very disappointing! Very basic hotel, but more or less what I expected

    rating08 Aug 2019

I booked this hotel for staying with friends that also booked here. The World Women Football championship had raised the prices all around the city, so this is was more affordable than the hotels in the centre. The area isn't interesting at all though and if possible I'd recommend staying closer to the centre if you plan on sightseeing. There are plenty of buses that take you to the tourist areas and the station (C1, C2, C5, 70 or 9 take you to the centre or station). The bus service is good but ends around 1am, so if you plan being out after that, you won't find public transport. The closest underground station is Cuire and then a 40 minute walk (that was what we had to do after a concert in Fourvière). About the rooms, I had stayed in Ibis Budget hotels, so this was what I expected. Bed was comfy but with the heatwave, the cover wasn't right at all. I wish they had something lighter for summer. Thankfully the air conditioned worked well. The furniture was a bit tired and maybe some deeper cleaning would be needed, but it was clean in general and the stay was pleasant. The bathroom was also clean, had everything needed including bath gel. There's also a desk and a stool. I missed a couple of plugs more that would have been good for charging all the gadgets that we have now. The door opens with a code that you get on check in, so no need for a key. The reception staff was nice and helpful. Even the guy that worked at night that didn't speak English or Spanish tried to help as much as he could. I had breakfast one of the days. It had a lots of things, croissants, toasts, cheese, ham, coffee, cereal, yoghurt… Don't go in the last moments because some of the food is gone. The other day I had coffee from the vending machine, that was ok but a bit overpriced. So in general a decent hotel, basic with no frills, but a bit far from any interesting area.

    Economic Staying

    rating17 May 2018

If you can want to spend less and stay in a decent hotel, than this is the one. located 20 mins away from the main stations / city. only few restaurants around. Located on a busy junction, so it is easy to get the public transport.

    IBIS BUDGET Lyon Caluire International

    rating25 Mar 2018

The hotel is an Ibis budget hotel so it has non of the frills of its more upmarket brand, however, it's excellent value. It's clean, comfortable, everything works, the staff are excellent and friendly and helpful and speak English if your French isn't that hot. Bus routes just outside the door take you to all points in Lyon regularly, the hotel staff will help you although there is a chart inside telling you what's what. Excellent buffet breakfast so you can start the day full no matter what appetite you have. It's not gourmet but it's good, fresh, appetising and plenty of it. If you are on a budget then it's for you. Some little restaurants and bars locally for additional food and an Ibis next door too if you need food in the evening, from pizza to burgers to good bistro and Indian and Chinese etc, so you have a good choice.
