  I really hated it here …

  Starting of with the location - our family room was at the other end of the world - really a long walk with luggage and stuff to get there - forget something from the car … just leave it there. The theming - for me horrible and cheap - I get it old slot machines and games are cool- but that does not have to make your hotel look cheap and tacky. The staff was pretty unfriendly upon check in and not very helpful .The room was just a mix out of scuffed furniture an old carpet with stains and horrible pain. I mean a renovation is not just smacking paint over old stuff … horrible. Room was overlooking a busy highway (yeah - not even street) - and for some reason there were two windows - old one behind new one. Makes sense with all that street noise. Horrible don’t got there. Breakfast was ok - and they offered a water fountain for drinking at the lobby - the only nice things I can say about the hotel.   The identity of the hotel is a little confusing; there is at least one other “ Ibis” very nearby, and the hotel entrance and reception is prominently headed “ NOVOTEL” with “ Ibis Styles” in smaller lettering,without any distinguishing logo, beneath, The Novotel reception and restaurant are modern and attractive.The receptionist gives directions to the “Ibis” and makes it clear that the Ibis breakfast is in the Ibis section, not the Novotel restaurant.After walking the length of a smart Novotel corridor,the era of woodchip paper,painted over in basic bright colours ,is reached in the” Ibis”. Having just come from three ( 3 and 4 star) hotels in Rome and north Italy ,I thought the Ibis expensive for the room facilities offered.There was no fridge or hot drink facilites;not even a bottle of water.The bathroom had a basic doorless shower,only one towel per person,and not even a toilet brush.The firm bed would have been comfortable without the pointless soft foam mattress topper,which caused it to feel excessively hot.Only being early May, the airconditioning was not functional,and the busy road discouraged having the windows open.The space between the outer plastic window frame, and the inner wooden one, had many cobwebs. To mention a positive aspect,we had a good meal at the Novotel restaurant,and breakfast in the bare Ibis breakfast room was of the usual standard.   Price very correct for a family of 4 and breakfast included. Breakfast not great (but I’m picky) but better than going on a search for a cafe in a place we don’t know with young children. Clean, no frills, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Perfect for a stop over. 24hr Check in which suited us well as we arrived at 3am!   Going home from Italy to Belgium

  There are family rooms available, but I decided to book two separate rooms for the family (My son and me - my wife and daughter). I did not regret! It was cheaper!It was not easy to find the hotel, I was at the wrong Ibis first, but got directions and found it perfectly! It's located outside the city center and close to the freeway, which is perfect to get on the road again!It's pretty close to the Parc Olympique Lyonnais (perfect for kids - if you still want to visit something before going home). There is also a pool - far too crowded to send our kids - and it's next to the restaurant so that makes a pretty fair combination if your kids don't like sitting down a lot :-)There is a good restaurant located at the hotel, perfect after a long drive! Cosy beds, clean bathrooms... we had a great night sleep!The breakfast buffet was really crowded in a too-tight place, I could imagine that people would leave to stay covid-safe, but if you don't mind just have and enjoy your breakfast! It's perfect!   From the outside the hotel does not look very nice but most areas are renovated and spacious. Large room and new bathroom made my stay quite comfortable.
