    Great hotel lobby staff!

    rating21 Apr 2026

Mael and Paul at the lobby made our stay unforgettable—their warmth, efficiency, and attention to detail got us checked in seamlessly after a long journey. Le Phenix Hotel combines charm with top-tier service, and the staff truly elevate the experience. We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in. Highly recommend to my fellow LumApps company colleagues visiting our Lyon office!~ Andy Sison, Scale Team CSM

Not bad but we have suggestions...

Positives first: Lyon is a wonderful city to visit, and our room was on the front of the hotel, overlooking the river so the view was lovely and we were pleasantly surprised that it was not noisy. Location of the hotel was great -- it is close to lots of eateries, shops, and many spots that tourists enjoy. Negatives: *Only one key for the room even though there were two of us staying in the room. *When bathing, I understand that many people don't use washcloths/facecloths but it might be a good idea to keep a couple at the front desk for those who do use them. *And what about (hair) conditioner? Not only was there none of that provided but there was only one soap dispenser that was supposed to be for used for both hair and body. *The bathtub had a high wall which is tricky for those who aren't so agile and the floor of the tub was very slippery so a bathmat might be another item to keep for those who request it. *In our room there was a tiny shelf on each side of the bed -- a drawer under the shelf would have been helpful. *There were reading lights but on one side of the bed, the light did not work. *The only bedcover was a fluffy duvet. They are certainly popular but in a warm room, they are too hot but it's either that or nothing at all. *We were there for four nights and did not find the front desk staff -- with one exception --to be very welcoming. While we did not expect fawning, fake enthusiasm, we didn't feel particularly valued as guests...

    Loved Lyon and the Phenix

This was one of the best hotels we stayed during our travels through France. No parking on site, but if you're quick about it, unload across the street where the construction is taking place at the bus stop...but be quick. There is no view of the castle from the hotel unless you're on the roof...which you're not allowed. However, the views facing the river are spectacular. The front desk staff was amazingly helpful and even provided us with a caraf of water (upon request) each night. The restaurant is enjoyable for breakfast and coffee. Great location for walking the entire downtown area and lots of restaurants and shops are within seconds. We parked at Parc Saint Jean just around the corner with no issues for 3-full days at a total of $60. There's so much to see and do in Lyon, could never cover it all.

    Great boutique hotel!!

    rating06 Feb 2024

Great hotel and service! Customer service was super attentive and informative. The room was spacious and modernized with a hit of history. Location is great as its very close proximity to some sights and restaurants in Lyon. As we go into the hotel room, there is a very nice common area with amazing light. My only issue was that the bathroom needs better curtains to block water. I will definite comeback to this hotel on my next
