    Manque de leadership

    rating21 Apr 2026

Unprofessional middle management and lack of customer orientationThe hotel suffers from a clear issue with its middle management. Staff in positions of responsibility display a noticeably unprofessional attitude. Rather than perceiving guests as customers, they often treat them as a nuisance. There is a complete lack of empathy and customer-oriented mindset. Leadership seems to be missing across all levels of the organization, and unfortunately, hotel management does not appear to be addressing these issues. As an example, staff responsible for guest relations and breakfast service—positions that should set the standard—seem more focused on proving themselves right in front of the guest rather than resolving issues or providing a pleasant experience. It’s a pity, as the location of the hotel is good, but the overall experience is significantly affected by these shortcomings. ombelinehurstel, at Lyon Marriott Hotel Cite Internationale, responded to this review Dear Adam E,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. IF YOU INSIST ON THE BEST, YOU WILL WANT THE EMPIRE SUITE...!!!

    rating21 Mar 2026

This was a return visit for us at the Marriott Cite Internationale — and this is where you will want to be when in Lyon. We were fortunate to once again enjoy the Empire Suite, a sprawling 1506’ with 2 bathrooms (both with standing showers, one with a tub). The floor to ceiling windows give you a breathtaking view of the majestic Park de la Tete d'Or and river. It’s a lovely place to stroll or just sit back and congratulate yourself for selecting such a wonderful hotel in such a peaceful setting. From the bedroom, there is a door to a very, very large living area: sofa couch, 3 chairs and a dining table for 6. You also have a big, private balcony with table and 4 chairs — and no, you do not share this space, it is all yours with the Empire Suite. On the Zero floor you will find the fitness room (several machines, mats, free weights, towels, even a restroom and shower) as well as the Zucca Restaurant where breakfast is offered and it is quite delicious and varied for every taste. You can walk to town in 20 minutes on a surface that has room for both bikes and pedestrians, or better yet, through the park. We are so very grateful to Guest Relations/Duty Manager Ombeline for staying in touch with us even 7 months before our stay, making certain our return visit was going to be every bit as fabulous as our last — and it was, thanks to her caring hospitality. GM Pauline, you have an excellent staff, a very good show to you. See you next time! Ombeline Hurstel, Autre at Lyon Marriott Hotel Cite Internationale, responded to this review Mr & Mrs MMPJMH, what a pleasure to read your review!Thank you so much for your loyalty and for choosing to stay with us again. It truly means a lot to me to have been able to assist you ahead of your visit and to ensure everything was just right for your return to Lyon.I’m absolutely delighted that you enjoyed the Empire Suite once again, it really is a special place, and I’m so glad it lived up to your expectations. Your kind words about the hotel, the surroundings, and the team genuinely mean a lot to all of us.It was a real pleasure staying in touch with you and being part of your experience. I will of course share your lovely feedback with Pauline and the entire team, they will be thrilled.Looking forward to welcoming you back again very soon!Warm regards,Ombeline

    Never again

    rating04 Feb 2026

Where to start with this place. This is probably the worst marriott service i have ever experience. I have stayed at marriotts over a thousand nights. Hands down this is the worst service. They need a complete overhaul of the staff from top to bottom. Check in staff, she was a trainee so i understand that she can be slow, but attitude and making faces to colleagues. She was just terrible and very unpleasant. One afternoon i just needed some water. I open the door and the housekeeping is right in front, i ask for water only and she says i must call the front desk. So i called and I made it very clear and double checked that i just need water and no room cleaning. Of, course the housekeeper shows up to clean my room an hour later, i tell her no cleaning and just needed water. She goes and comes back another 15 min later. Another night, had a bottle of wine, the room didnt have a wine opener. I walk down so there is no miscommunication. Front desk tells me they dont have one and that i should walk down to the restaurant and ask. I walk down and they say that they cant loan me one, wine openers must be expensive in lyon, he tells me that i need to bring down the wine so he can open it for me...wow. Zero upgrades and no recognition. By the way, i dont think i have been to a marriott without a lounge...upon trying very hard to find something positive, their room service burger was good. ombelinehurstel, at Lyon Marriott Hotel Cite Internationale, responded to this review Dear Steven H, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed account of your stay. We are truly sorry to read about your experience and sincerely regret that your visit did not meet the standards and the professionnalism which made usually the reputation of our teams. We are especially concerned by your feedback regarding the attitude and service at check-in. While training periods are essential, courtesy, professionalism and respect must always be upheld, and we clearly failed in this regard. Please accept our sincere apologies. We also regret the multiple service breakdowns you encountered during your stay, notably concerning the housekeeping coordination. These situations should have been handled with far greater efficiency and flexibility, and we fully understand your frustration. We appreciate you taking the time to highlight these issues, as this feedback is invaluable in helping us identify areas requiring immediate attention. Your comments have been shared with our management team to ensure corrective actions are taken. We hope that, should you give us another opportunity in the future, we may restore your confidence in our hotel and in the Marriott brand.OmbelineGuest relation

    Don’t go

    rating30 Dec 2025

The worst Marriott hotel I have ever stayed at.The entire hotel was freezing, including the rooms. Completely unacceptable.I was told that my suite had a balcony and that all suites include a balcony. This was false — there was no balcony whatsoever.A very poor experience and far below Marriott standards. Extremely disappointing Ombeline Hurstel, Autre at Lyon Marriott Hotel Cite Internationale, responded to this review Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your stay, especially with the temperature in the hotel and the misunderstanding regarding the suite’s balcony. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the discomfort caused by the cold conditions, which are far from the standards we strive to uphold. We understand how important a comfortable environment is and regret that we fell short in this regard during your visit.Regarding the balcony, we apologize for any confusion. While many of our suites do include balconies, not all do, and we regret that this was not clearly communicated to you.Your experience is taken very seriously, and we are actively addressing these concerns with our team to ensure improvements are made. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with the exceptional Marriott experience you expect and deserve.Ombeline HurstelGuest relation

Terrible experience , if you are staying with kids

Not recommended if you are staying with kids, Staff at reception is very rude and they Donot have any kids playarea. All the sightseeing places are far off in the main city center, nothing is nearby Ombeline Hurstel, Autre at Lyon Marriott Hotel Cite Internationale, responded to this review Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear that your experience with us did not meet your expectations, especially regarding the reception service and the lack of children’s play area. Please know that we take your comments very seriously and will address your concerns with our team to improve the friendliness and attentiveness of our staff. Regarding family facilities, while we currently do not have a dedicated kids’ play area on-site, we understand how important this can be for families traveling with children and will take your feedback into consideration for future enhancements. As for our location, we are situated near the Parc de la Tête d’Or and the Convention Centre, which offers a peaceful environment. While some main sightseeing spots are located in the city center, we are always happy to assist guests with transportation options and recommendations to make exploring Lyon as convenient as possible. We appreciate your honest feedback and hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future to provide a more enjoyable stay for you and your family.Ombeline HurstelGuest relation
