  Booked as part of a BA Holiday, I like the Accor Group, so opted for Mercure and I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. From the very warm reception upon arrival and helpful front desk team throughout - always smiling and welcoming, to the breakfast staff in the morning. The hotel boasts the Accor little extras, like the fresh water machine (still or carbonated) in the bar which is free for all with empty bottles to take away; always useful after a day walking in a city and just wanting to chill out in the room. This was highlighted by the receptionist during check in. Breakfast was excellent; from the choice to the staff running it. Fresh food each morning and a really good choice. The two staff each morning ensure there was always a clean table to choose upon arrival and as soon as anyone left the area their table was efficiently and swiftly tidied away and prepared for the next guests. Attention to detail was outstanding! My room was a double for single occupancy and perfectly prepared and tidied each day by house keeping who worked around my long lazy breakfast and later departure each day for an afternoon in town. All coffees etc were replaced for my return. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets had been laundered well - fresh and clean. There really was no complaint at all. Check out was efficiently handled. The room and all areas of the hotel that I used were spotless throughout and looked fresh and modern. As for location, I was about 30 seconds from the Plaza Republique which was perfect and it took me about 10 minutes to walk to the Old Town, which is an absolute must. Then up to Fourvière (there is a funicular railway, but I chose to walk!). This hotel is extremely highly recommended and I would most definitely return! Indeed, I hope to!

  Non può definirsi 4 stelle! It can't be called 4 stars!

  Non si può classificare 4 stelle un hotel che pur in posizione centrale e con una buona colazione propone una camera standard a prezzo esorbitante a dire poco minimalista! Due trolley non trovano posto ma si è costretti a metterli per terra. Un armadio molto piccolo contiene due soprabiti . Non esiste nemmeno un gancio appendiabiti se non per gli asciugamani del bagno! Pantaloni e vestiario per spogliarsi li ho dovuti appendere alla maniglia della porta! Sono abituato a viaggiare e questo non è lo standard di questa classificazione !You can't classify 4 stars a hotel that despite being centrally located and with a good breakfast offers a standard room at an exorbitant price to say the least minimalist! Two trolleys can't find a place but you are forced to put them on the ground. A very small wardrobe contains two overcoats. There isn't even a coat hook other than for bathroom towels! I had to hang pants and clothes to undress on the door handle! I'm used to traveling and this is not the standard of this classification!

  Perfect location for city trip. In the city center, 15min walk away from everything you want to see in Lyon on a short city trip. Nice and helpful staff, they have a deal with a nearby underground parking lot, although plenty of places in the streets if you come early enough. Clean, central, they habe a water fountain to fill up your water bottle free of charge

  Lyon is a walkable city and this hotel is in the heart of everything. So convenient to explore the old town, all the restaurants and bars nearby and it's a hop skip and jump across the Rhone to discover the Parc de la Tete and the eastside of the city. It was about €70 euros in a taxi from the airport or €45 in an Uber.The hotel was clean and the room was comfortable, there was a mini fridge and YouTube and netflix apps available on the TV - I didn't have any issues. The room may be a bit small for some, but if like me you are just looking for somewhere to wash and lay your head at the end of the day, then it's perfect.I loved that the hotel provided glass 75cl bottles that you can fill with still or sparkling water and also fill your own bottles - This was so handy.The staff were all friendly and professional and I would like to give a special mention to Tomas behind the bar, who kept the rose flowing and is a skilled mixologist.There were just a couple of things that could be added - complementary bar snacks and a toiletry kit in the bathroom - shower cap, nail file etc.All in all, as a female sole traveller I had a wonderful stay and look forward to visiting the hotel and the city again.

  Terrific Location, Just Right For A Night Stop

  One night in Lyon, hotel booked by the company. That said, the Mercure Lyon Plaza Republique is very conveniently located for the attractions and restaurants in Lyon.Our group pf eight arrived relatively late, 9PM, but check-in was friendly and efficient, so having paid our city taxes and with key cards in hand we were soon on our way to our rooms.The rooms are relatively small but perfectly adequate for a one night stop. Well appointed, clean and comfortable. A good sized bath room, nice shower, and despite facing the road quiet. A good night's sleep was achieved.Breakfast is set out in the ground floor bar area. Lots of choice and nice food. And as a Brit, it's always nice to take advantage of sitting outside on a warm morning in the segregated seating area on the pavement directly outside the hotel. Very happy with breakfast.The location was perfect. A five minute walk to a street packed with restaurants. And as a morning runner, just a couple of minutes from the river. Turn left, cross the road and the bridge and take advantage of the embankment path.For us, the Mercure was just right for our requirements. Liked it, and would happily stay again.
