Good value close to the hospital

    rating29 Sept 2023

I stayed at Adagio for a two-week visit at the Timone hospital. The location was excellent since it is only a short walk from the main hospital entrance. The environment is not very inspiring but felt safe. The double room was in good condition. To be noted, cleaning and changing of towels is made once a week unless agreed otherwise. The kitchenette worked fine but does not inspire to fine cuisine. There is a micowave oven, two stove plates, and a fridge with a freeze compertment. The kitchen utensils are quite limited, for instance, there was no kitchen knife and no cutting board. There is a small gym which was very hot and humid when I went there, I therefore instead went for a run in the vicinity. I didn't try the breakfast which was fairly expensive. Staff was friendly and helpful.

    Low cost low benefit

This will be a full review.First off the hotel is near a Metro station and near a “Gare” so a high speed train or metro is 5-15 minutes away by walk. The area of the hotel was fairly dirty, and classically smelled of sewers but that is just how France is sometimes. The check in process was great, they answered all our questions, were very knowledgeable and between both of them spoke very good French and English. It was explained to us that there would be no one entering our suite to clean during our stay. Alright. Not a huge issue but would have been nice. It can be done by request but I presume for a fee. (Will explain the snark later)Entering our room, it was bigger than our room was in Paris. It had a normal hotel size TV with decent channels. We had booked a double bed which was actually just two single beds. Unfortunately they didn’t even have a sheet between the mattress cover and the comforter. This is an issue because the A/C doesn’t work at all and leads to the window being open all night. There are mosquitos and we got bugged very often by them. But it was too warm in the room to close the window and the comforter was too warm to have on all the way. This led to some really poor sleeps. They do have a kitchenette which was decent but note that it only has enough plates and cutlery for 2 people. The bathroom was alright, fairly clean. They only left us 1 toilet paper roll which they again don’t come in your room to refill. They gave two towels, two face towels and a bath mat, fairly standard. It also had a great towel warmer which was a nice perk. Unfortunately we wanted new towels halfway through our stay and we’re told we had to pay extra for new towels! What the heck. That’s just BS. The shower was crap. Hot water only stayed on for a few minutes at most if you were lucky. The shower head is fine but the shower is designed in such a way, with no shower curtain just a 1/3 glass pane that water just spills all over the bathroom. You have to hold the shower head the whole time making it difficult to enjoy your shower. So we decided to wash our towels ourselves and some clothes as we are on a longer vacation. We had to buy our own soap, no problem with that. But the washing machine had a wash time of 40 minutes . We went down 40 minutes later and there was still 20 minutes on the timer. Not just that, but the clothes drier was broken and clearly had been for ages. So instead we had to drape our wet clothes across our room to dry everything. This was my first time staying at an adagio aparthotel. Had things been a little more standard and complimentary and well thought out for 200$ CAD a night, I would consider staying again but save yourself the trouble and pay a little more for a nicer place.

    Sweaty mosquito-ridden dump

    rating06 Jun 2023

We booked on condition that there was air conditioning. They lied and said it wasn’t working. The next day of course the story changed, now it was not cold enough to justify AC. This is despite the fact that it’s 29c in Marseille. As a result we had to face 30+ degrees at night or have windows open , letting in all the noise from the hospital and of course the mosquitoes. We were bitten so many times. The staff were completely useless in dealing with complaints and miraculously lost their previously good English dealing a complaint. Don’t stay here or you may need the hospital across the road.

NOPE- die pillows were super bad, super uncomfortable- the balcony were so dirty also the "backyard" full of plastic bottles and dirt, nobody wants to sit on a balcony with this view- u couldn't sit on the balcony with no chairs...- the area is not nice at all- the parking spot for 16 EUR is way to expensive- the sauna wasn't working, wouldn't have been nice to know in advance, so we have booked a different hotelYES- Die Receptionist was nice- the price for a dog was ok , Owner at Aparthotel Adagio Marseille Timone, responded to this review thank you for taking the time to write a comment about your recent stay with us.
