  Creepy and not safe for female solo travelers

  I had a very scary and creepy experience at this hotel. I was traveling alone to marseille and just needed 1 night stay before heading to the Provence countryside. The whole experience gave me the creeps and yet reached a paramount crescendo when at 3:30am I heard someone try to get into my room. I screamed. Luckily my door was bolted but it appeared as if someone had my code. It was pretty horrifying, they kept trying to get in. no peep whole so couldn’t see the person but it was a man. Tried calling the front desk and the number kept dropping. Omg so horrible. I didn’t sleep at all. Didn’t know if I should call the cops. I got out as fast as I could!   We booked an additional day before we arrive because we couldn’t get the room sooner that day, that wasn’t a problem because it’s the hotel policy so we only hoped for a good time. The location is good, we were close to everything so we didn’t have to walk long to get whatever we needed. However the rooms were dirty I could hear the floor squish as I walk from whatever was spilled on it. We had initially a double bed room and we asked to change it to twin beds room, at first the receptionist was kind enough to change it for us but the room only had one blanket and one towel. When we asked for a second one and mentioned that the room was a little bit dirty, the receptionist seemed irritated and said to take back the room we had originally. We did so because both rooms were dirty anyways. Plus I found a dead fly underneath the blanket.   One night was enough

  One night at this place was enough for me. The beds are hard. The rooms were hot as hell so I opened the window. Then heard all the yelling & screaming from the neighborhood as well as what I thought sounded like gun shots. Barely slept and frankly just wanted to get out of there. Walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner and passed by some sketchy people. Super happy I only stayed one night and I won't be coming back.   We have booked this hotel for our family (me, my wife and two children). In terms of location, this hotel is very well located, around 15 minutes walking to city center. However, the hotel itself was very disappointing... the room offered to us was quite old and the bathroom was very dirty, to the point we were almost not willing to use it. We had to wash it before using it. The upper beds for the children were full of sand dust.Right under the entry door, the ceiling was dripping water from the air conditioning machine, so every time we had to leave or we would arrive, we would have to dry the floor.Breakfast was paid. Worth the price to what was offered, as we were not able to find another place which could match the price (especially when you have kids).Overall, not the worst option, but I would certainly not return there with my family.   Better in pictures

  Two nights stay, and at the time of booking, this was the best price for my budget and accommodations for a family of four. This place looks a lot better in the photos than in person. It is modern but the house keeping needs much improvement! The front desk was helpful and I give them thumbs up for letting us stow our luggage during early check in while we toured the city for a few hours before check in. The A/C did not work in my room, so the front desk offered me a new room as a consolation, that was very nice of them. It’s not as close to the city center as I hoped for but, it’s about a 10 min. walk to the shopping mall. Overall, it felt like a hostel more than a hotel like it’s advertised, but like I mentioned, despite the location and that mentioned above, it was a good stay.
