  We had a good stay at the Escale Oceania Marseille Vieux Port. This hotel is ideally located central to attractions in and around Vieux Port - easy walking distance to the many neighborhoods of interest.The hotel is clean and well maintained. The breakfast buffet is good, and is a nice way to start the day. Be aware that the location of the hotel means that there is street noise throughout the night (at least for the Thu, Fri, and Sat nights), as can be expected in a peak tourist zone. The hotel restricts the use of air conditioning before summer; the central AC is not available. This was a bit frustrating as daily temperatures were 24 C during part of our stay in mid April, but the windows could not be left open overnight for cooling, due to the street noise.The hotel staff are helpful and professional.Recommended, especially due to location and value.   Great place, convienent and pleasant

  Fab location, and actually much quieter than I expected it to be. We only stayed for 2 nights and encountered several members of staff, all of whom were helpful and friendly.My only tiny niggle is the lack of an electric socket beside the bed. It's no big deal, but as a tourist who spent all day taking photos, I did need to charge my phone overnight, but I also wanted to keep it beside me as a clock.I really admire hotel owners that have to deal with modern guest requirements, but also have to contend with the constraints of being an old building Celine RUOT, Propriétaire at Escale Oceania Marseille Vieux Port, responded to this review Dear Sir, good morning.Thank you for your wonderful review, which praises our team.   Not recommendable. Lovely city visit, unfortunately the non refunded hotel deposit has left a sour taste.

  The hotel was a good base for a stop in the city, conveniently located beside the port and a tram stop. The room itself was clean. Upon arrival you will need to pay a €200 deposit, upon checkout they initially stated the funds would be back in the account 24-48 hours. This was not the case. We have had email communication with the hotel and on three occasions were told the money would be returned. This has not happened. Then concerning the preauthorization of 200 Eur asked on arrival I checked in my system and all the preauthorizations of 200 Eur and dating from 1rst of september to today were released.   The reception area wasn’t pleasant at all. One gentlemen was very helpful and almost felt like he cared about my stay there. Glad there was an elevator but room for only one person. My room had NO amenities what so ever. No shampoo, no coffee maker, one small pillow and all night i itched. Turned light on and killed a mosquito but I still itched every day I was there. This is such a horrible feeling thinking there were bugs in my sheets. The room was SO small I can’t understand why I was put on the sixth floor, I felt like I was Cinderella being punished. This room was similar to a motel 6, but perhaps worse. I will say one good thing, the shower head gave a great pressure of hot water and it was in a great location. The pictures you put on post was very deceiving! No balcony and the breakfast pictures were absolutely not true. Would I recommend this place? NEVER! Pay a little bit more and get better. The comfort rooms are either attic rooms or have balconies facing the city, and all include Rituals products in the rooms, shampoo and shower gel in the shower, and body lotion and hand soap as complimentary toiletries.Our guests are not cartoon characters.Furthermore, you criticize our breakfast, but it was not included on your bill.As for mosquitoes, being a hotel located by the sea, they sometimes visit us.We have superior rooms with balconies offering side views and even more spacious deluxe rooms, also with balconies.Sincerely,Céline RuotManager
