Location

The hotel is located a 5-minute walk from the city centre of Marseille, in front of the Saint Charles railway station. The bus station and links to the local public transport network are close at hand while shopping venues are some 10 minutes' walk from the hotel. A selection of restaurants, bars, pubs and nightspots are around 1.5 km away and the beach is about 20 minutes away by public transport. Marseille Provence Airport is approximately 28 km away from the establishment.

Facility

Guests have a choice of 120 non-smoking rooms located in an 8-storey main building and a 9-storey auxiliary building. Guests are warmly welcomed by English- and French-speaking staff at the 24-hour reception desk in the lobby. Check-in/check-out service is available round the clock. Amenities available at the hotel include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The hotel offers a number of facilities for guests with disabilities. A lift and wheelchair-accessible facilities are available.     Not bad but could be better.

    Comfortable bed and room. We did an overnight stay and chose this hotel because of location to St Charles Train Station. Cons, no refrigerator, no bottled water, no milk for coffee. There were tea bags and instant coffee but no spoon to stir coffee. Also the open shower meant all bathroom was wet after taking a shower. Apart from cons was a passable stay.

    Stayed here during s short stay in Marseille. Chose this hotel since it was located close to the old port and since I was travelling with a car, more than 2m tall, which did not leave many hotels to stay at. This was however ever able to handle it.Good service at the hotel - kind and helpful staff. Hotel is a little worn-down but otherwise ok.

    Sadly the only good thing I can say good about this hotel is it’s location to the coach and train station and the city centre Other than that it goes down hill rapidly during our stay and with sorting out an issue after our stay which after over 3 weeks is still not sortedStaff although nice are somewhat incompetent and lack knowledge and experience and would rather talk to each other than workRooms are tatty with torn curtains and carpet and in need of an updateBreakfast, the food is of poor quality the choice is very limited and the breakfast area needs revamping and the staff need to keep the area cleaner and the food stocked betterI’ve been visiting the hotel now for over 10 years and every time we come the hole experience is poorer to a point that when we come back to Marseille later in the year we will stay at another hotel Shame IHG Service, Owner at Hotel Marseille Centre Gare Saint Charles, responded to this review Hi Londondave60,We appreciate you staying at our Holiday Inn Express Marseille - Saint Charles for this trip and sharing your feedback.     It is strategic—the best you can have when you need to catch a train since it is opposite St-Charles Train Terminal. It is a Holiday Inn Express like hundreds in Europe- nothing more - nothing less. It would need a fresher touch outside and an upgrade inside, but it is still workable. We had a beautiful out of our room: we could see La Major and also Notre Dame de la Garde. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The breakfast went beyond the typical HIE standard with a greater selection than we have in Germany.

    I really enjoyed my overnight stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Marseille in the Easter 2023 half term last year and the room is so clean and tidy and I gave this hotel in Marseille a 10/10 for the incredible overnight stay at Holiday Inn Express in Marseille from last year in April 2023
