  Although basic with rooms on the smaller size the hotel was well managed with super friendly staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The setting was perfect for a quick and easy walk to most places in Marseilles.

  DO NOT stay here. They cancelled our booking one day before arrival without a reason why. They’ve refused to answer the phone and did not respond to an email sent by my provider.I will NOT stay at an Ibis hotel again due to the lack of respect for its customers and lack of service. If they had contacted me fine, if they needed payment, contact me? Don’t cancel?

  Don’t be put off that this is Ibis Budget – it’s in a fantastic location and great value for money

  I paid just under £80 a night for a Friday night in early September and was pleasantly surprised at the location and value for money. Very friendly staff on reception when checking in. My room was on the 7th floor. I think all rooms on this floor are built into the roof eaves so there was only a velux/skylight window. You couldn’t see out unless you stood on a chair – I did this and could see the old port. Room was very clean. Room didn’t have a fridge, kettle, safe or cupboards etc. It was small but perfectly adequate for a night or two. Location is brilliant – you’re only a couple of minutes from the old port with heaps of restaurants and ferries etc. I also walked to the Basilica Notre Dame de la Garde which was about 25 minutes uphill from the hotel - or take bus 60.Breakfast was €8.90 and it was great value with plenty of choice including scrambled eggs, cold meats and cheese, croissants, mini pancakes and pastries, yoghurts, fruit compôtes etc. Hotel is very close to a square with lots of alfresco dining – rooms facing on to it can be a bit noisy at night. I would definitely stay here again.   Good, clean budget hotel. Does the job.

  We stayed here for the rugby world cup and I will admit I was a bit wary about staying in an Ibis budget as I have had mixed experiences.Fair to say my worries were alleviated almost instantly. The location was fantastic, very close to the port and on a street with some fantastic restaurants. It is also close to a Casino (small food shop) which was helpful. We were on the top floor and heat was initially a worry, but the AC unit was fantastic. The room was cozy, as to expected by a hotel in this price range, but did the job. The bathroom was clean. The breakfast was genuinely surprisingly very good. Lots of sweet and savoury options, catering to the British contingent as well as local French tastes. If I were to travel back to Marseille, and was on a tighter budget this would definitely be my hotel of choice.   The hotel is in an excellent position really close to Vieux Port. The staff are helpful and the breakfast is excellent. That's the positives.We had a double room on the bottom floor of the building. It was very small, very dark and not comfortable as we got ate by mosquitoes and had the hotel cat climb in through our open window. The window was open as there's no Aircon in the room. No vent in the bathroom and the hall way stank of damp. The bedding was some kind of weird seersucker style sheets and cover which was uncomfortable and probably a cotton nylon mix so you feel a bit stuck to it! We were there for the rugby so we paid a LOT of money per night and felt completely ripped off. I don't mind paying over the odds for a comfortable room but our room was not comfortable The lift was broken for most of the time we were there which meant using the fire escape.
