    What a find!

    rating06 Aug 2024

My goodness, what an excellent hotel. Now, I am fully aware this is not a 5 star hotel. But bear in mind the average price per room is between 62 and 80 euros. It has a pool, the rooms are far more spacious than some of the higher priced chains, but the hospitality was amazing. Everyone was super friendly, nothing was too much effort, which gave it the vibe of a family run b&b. Pool was clean and warm, it was cheap as chips for drinks and breakfast ( 9 euros the adult, 4 a child pancakes included!) But ... 1 thing I really must point out is the restaurant. It looks nothing more than a wooden table back street resto... but my goodness! That chef they have is worthy of some of the fine dining places I have been. The food was elegant, tasteful, and chic.. St pierre, or carpaccios, steak or burratina.. just very very impressive. Not only that... 16 euros for a main and dessert. If I find myself in montpellier again I will skip the 5 stars and go with this 2 star. We loved it! 1 tip.. change all the toilet brushes they are a bit worse for wear... 😉

    Two night stay for wedding

    rating09 Jun 2017

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights to attend a wedding reception. We chose to stay at this hotel because it was the venue of the wedding reception we were invited to.I must admit with it's location at the exit of a dual carriage way on the outskirts of Montpellier , it wouldn't have been my choice of hotel. But considering it's outside appearance we had a very pleasant stay. There was a little mix up with our room to start and the receptionist tried to argue that we had not booked a twin but a quick show of my confirmation email proved I was correct. A bit of a negative in terms of customer relations.Back in our twin room, the room is small and dated although clean and beds ended up being comfy once we had selected the right pillow from the four available. The bathroom however was modern and most probably recently refurbished, there were a couple of sachets of shampoo and shower gel and 2 hand soaps available. Samsung TV in room with a good selection of French TV.The hotel had a small pool and few sun beds but was closed for repairs for some of our stay. The most surprising was the food, wonderful for the appearance of the hotel, a case of not judging book by it's cover, there were a number of menus options to choose from with either 2 course or 3 course being the most cost effective. The night stay is room only but a buffet breakfast (cereal, fruit, yoghurt, cheese, ham, croissant, bread, machine coffee and machine juices) is available at €7.80 per person. Not the best croissants I have ever tasted but perfectly adequate. We didn't have a car and we were reliant on other wedding guests for transport but found that a 5-10mins walk away there was a shuttle bus that takes you to the tram into the centre of Montpellier. But the hotel is very isolate was no local amenities (shops, etc.)It was a pleasant stay but would say that the hotel is very tired and needs a good paint and some modernisation but at €75 per night good value for money and the food was excellent.

The hotel is a bit old fashioned, but clean. The restaurant is fantastic

Stayed here one night. Although the rooms do seem a bit dated and they are small, they are nonetheless clean. Reception staff were very helpful & accommodating.A very pleasant surprise was the on-site restaurant. What a great choice of food, with set 3 course menus, or a la carte. The 2 male waiters were very entertaining & helped make our evening more enjoyable.

    A Low key place

    rating24 Aug 2016

The Heliotel Montpellier is conveniently located just to the North of Montpellier in the direction of Monferrier-sur-Lez. This is a low key place, do not expect too much. It has seen better times. However, Our three-course (!) lunch was good and inexpensive.

    Average hotel

    rating08 Aug 2016

The hotel looks out of date from outside and inside. The room is very small and bed not comfortable. It was not super clean when we were there. The staff was nice although they don't speak English. The swimming pool is refreshing at the end of the day. We were astonished about the food. We didn't expect to be soo good. Surprising that the restaurant in a hotel like this was the best experience.
