Clean, comfortable but needing a refurb

    rating25 Oct 2025

The hotel is beside the marina, near town centre and close to many cafes and restaurant’s. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was a bit dated but very clean, comfortable bed and had a lovely sea view.We visited in October but the aircon struggled to cool the room. ( all three rooms were the same)The cleaner uses vinegar to clean out the kettle. Once they left the vinegar in the kettle causing an unpleasant coffee. We had a nice meal in the first evening but didn’t use it again because the menu never changed. Breakfast was basic but no wow factor. As you can see we did enjoy our visit. I hope it has a refurb soon as it’s a bit dated. The price charged for the car park was £15 per day which I felt was far too expensive. Very little free parking in the area.

    More shabby than chic....

    rating02 Mar 2025

We arrived at the end of February 2025. The first thing that we noticed as we reached our room was how dated and shabby it all looked. The hotel had deteriorated even from the last time we stayed, a year ago. Having been assured by the by the hotel's friendly, restaurant waitress that the food was of very good quality we went there that evening. Unfortunately, the steak I ordered was inedible and I sent it back. At least they were good enough to remove it from the bill. When we got back to our room I noticed the bedside telephone light was flashing. The next day I told the receptionist who organized for the maintenance person to come and look. He took the filter apart and resolved the problem. Not sure why this hadn't been noted before. Then the key cards to our door stopped working so we had them reprogrammed, again at reception. They stopped working after the first re-use. On my way to reception I bumped into the chambermaid who offered to try using her master key. That didn't work. 'Oh,' she said. 'I quite often have a problem with this door.' I mentioned that to the quite surprised but polite manager. As we we leaving for the morning, he offered to check the door while we were out. When we got back, he hadn't so he came upstairs with us and tried the reprogrammed cards which once again didn't work. A short while later he was back and replaced something from the outside. Having settled in we looked around more closely. To say that the rooms and hotel are tired is an understatement. I have attached some photos of the mold on the bathroom ceiling, the chipped fridge cabinet, the door handle in the bathroom that is coming away, chipped paintwork, and the scuffed wooden table. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of the stained carpets throughout the hotel. Was it worth €433 for three nights? Absolutely not....

Super location, great food but needs refurbishing as tired

    rating14 Oct 2024

We stayed at the hotel for one night as we’re flying out of Montpelier, the location is wonderful. It’s very easy to find on the front of the harbour with private parking. The bed was comfortable and the balcony perfect to view the harbour and sit to catch some rays. The staff very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We ate at the restaurant which was superb and delicious. Sadly the hotel itself is a little tired, a few chips in the sides in the room, the carpets are very old and look dirty, the air on didn’t work and the phone looked like it had come from the 90’s. Unfortunately as the air con was not working we got very hot in the night and my husband stupidly opened the balcony door for some air….huge mistake…we became a buffet for mosquito’s! They were brutal and subsequently we got very little sleep.

    Pity

    rating05 Sept 2024

The most rundown hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Every year they say it will be remodeled. The carpets are disgusting. The furniture and walls are beaten and chipped. I really loved the location and the vue and it seems the staff is doing their best—but you should avoid as this hotel is old and dirty—pathetic quality.
