    C’est si bon!

    rating15 Oct 2025

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Royal in Montpellier. The location is perfect — very central, just a short walk from both the train station and the heart of the city. Our room (number 105) was beautifully decorated, quiet, and came with a spacious bathroom featuring a large bathtub — perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.Breakfast was well-prepared and typically French, and we really enjoyed their charming tea-time offering with freshly baked cake. Montpellier itself is a beautiful, youthful, and peaceful city — so different from the noise we’re used to in the Netherlands! There are plenty of great restaurants and bars nestled in green surroundings or on lively little squares.A perfect destination for a relaxing 3-day getaway!

    Excellent hotel, highly recommended!

Excellent hotel in a great location. The hotel was perfect for us. We’d booked a family room for 4 and when they saw that our two boys were not small children they ensured we had a lovely large room. Very comfortable, fresh, and modern. Reception service was first class, so friendly and professional. Nice communal lounge area, and we appreciated the free tea/coffee/cake in the afternoon. Everything Montpellier has to offer is right on the doorstep. A great experience and would highly recommend!

    Excellent hotel and great service

    rating22 May 2025

The Royal Hotel was top notch. It’s a super easy walk, few minutes, to train station. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The public spaces and the room are updated and comfortable, great vibe! Bed was huge and super comfortable, bathroom was very spacious and had all we needed. Family room was a great size for two adults and two teenagers on a sofa bed. They said the sofa bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, maybe a little overpriced at 15 euros each but many choices and satisfying, good coffee. In the afternoon the hotel has free cake and coffee/tea in the lobby and it’s a very nice touch. Highly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting lovely Montpellier. My only regret was that we only stayed one night, wish we’d spent more time in this beautiful city and hotel.

Stayed one night here and was very pleased with the experience. The staff are friendly and helpful, giving directions to places we needed to go to. The location is ideal if you are sightseeing and visiting the city centre. Our room was spacious enough, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast - plenty of choice. Can recommend this city hotel.

    Too much unecessary Noise

    rating04 Nov 2024

I would have given this hôtel a 4 star (Very Good) rating if it were not for the unacceptable noise level on my street facing room. The Booking clerk warned me, on Booking, that the street facing rooms were very noisy. So, I opted for a court yard room. Upon arrival when I saw that ground level court yard , it seemed very dark and stuffy. So, I opted for the street room. To be honest, I must sleep with an open window.Even though I was warned, I slept with the window slightly open. I did manage to fitfully sleep. What I later explained to the hôtel management was that the noise level COULD be managed despite the hôtel being on a main street. It was not the tram or pedestrian noise that was the problem. Instead, it was the extremely loud and argumentive voices of the food delivery bicycle delivery that congregate close to the entrance of the hôtel. The Hôtel Management CAN do some thing about this by explaining to the delivery works that it is not acceptable to be talking loadly, and even screaming at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning !!!Allons, messieurs, un peu de courage !
