Perfect city break by the Loire

We stayed at the Novotel Nantes Centre Bord de Loire for two nights in mid-July 2026 and could not have been happier with our choice. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome, check-in was seamless, and the team was always ready with great recommendations for local restaurants and walks along the river.Our room was spotlessly clean, modern, and surprisingly spacious. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was well-appointed with a great rainfall shower. We also loved how quiet the room was despite being so close to the city center, which meant we slept wonderfully both nights.The location is ideal, just a short stroll from the main sights and with beautiful views of the Loire. We enjoyed breakfast each morning, which offered a fantastic range of fresh pastries, fruit, and hot options.At just over 220 euros for two nights, the value was excellent for a four-star hotel in such a prime location. We will absolutely return on our next visit to Nantes. Highly recommended!

Family of 4 staying 3 nights. We were upgraded to a fabulous room (the Ouessant) on the 4th floor. The view over the river, with the city in the background, was amazing. The bed was very comfortable. The sofa bed was good too but only had a sheet and blanket. We could have asked for extra covers though!The room decor looked a little bit tired but honestly the view was so fab and our stay was very affordable so I'd rather have that then sparkling decor and a higher price tag. The staff were great, so helpful, kind and friendly without being overbearing.The breakfast was excellent. Varied, copious and good quality with something to suit every palate.The location was great too...there is a tram stop just outside (public transport is free at the weekends) and the centre is just a short walk across the bridge and past the hospital.I loved my stay and would thoroughly recommend the hotel. Thanks for a super time!

Right on the river and not too far a walk from the Machines. The hotel had made an error when we arrived after our long drive so they had no room for us. After an hour wait at reception they had cleaned a recently checked-out room for us. Hotel and rooms in general are due some renovation.Parking isn't suitable for tall vehicles.

On the banks of the Loire, easy public transport access to the city.

We stayed for an Olympic weekend as a family of three. The staff were excellent: helpful, went out of their way, considerate, professional. The hotel is really well located. On the Loire, tram access to the city, free at weekends. We did not need the car but left it at the hotel, on the forecourt. Rooms were comfortable, breakfast was good. At weekends, the restaurant is otherwise closed.

Easy find and convenient parking. Generally the hotel is “tired” and in need of some attention. Rooms could do with a refurb. Bed so close to the wall on one side a climb over the end of the bed is required. They don’t tell you when you book that the restaurant is closed at the weekend so we had to go out for dinner. When we returned there were people eating in the restaurant. The receptionist noticed my puzzled look and said it was room service. That didn’t make sense either! I have a suspicion that it could have staff having a meal. Suspicion only as I say. Either way it’s either closed or it’s not! Make up your minds.
