    Unfriendly hotel

    We stayed one night at this hotel. The hotel - which is modern is built into the hillside and reception, once found, is on the 2nd floor. Signage is very poor and there are no directions to find the entrance.Checkin was probably one of the most unfriendly that I have experienced for a long time, no one managed a smile and I was curtly told that I had underpaid for breakfast - which I acknowledged. And settled the shortfall.It was a nice day and we asked if there were any facilities to sit outside in the sunshine - we were waved towards a terrace with wet dirty and uncomfortable furniture.The room itself was impressively large and well fitted. However, I have never slept ( or actually not slept) in such a hard bed. It was like lying on concrete! The cost of the bed and breakfast was €180 - very poor value given the unfriendly staff and dreadful bed.Pornic itself is lovely and we had an amazing dinner down on the quay.

    Great position just outside the town and a lovely 5 minute walk along the canal to get there. Loads of free parking - we were offered a fee space in the underground car park which we used. Hotel is modern, double room with a balcony was a really good size. All areas of the hotel were spotlessly clean and staff warm and welcoming. Should add that the air-con was very welcome! Couple of things for us that it didn’t get full marks for….replace those small hard bath towels with proper large fluffy ones, put a couple of real tea/coffee mugs in the bedroom, bottle of water in room and breakfast teabags! Never had breakfast….price was (to us) ridiculously high. Enjoyed our stay.

    Avoid rudeness and sharp practice and book elsewhere

    The reception Manager - Mr Dosset - was rude arrogant and officious. I had paid for the hotel but he refused to let me have the room without a credit cardI did not have a credit card and he said I had to carry a credit card and it was illegal not to have one. What utter nonsense. Mr Dosset should be removed. He claimed to be the manager. He is not - the manager is Olivier Guiheneuf.He said it was a booking condition. After digging into the least prominent terms of the booking it said €150 deposit required. Two points to make:1. I could have paid €150 in cash if asked. I was not asked due to the crass ignorance of Dosset 2. Had the requirement to pay a security deposit been made CLEARLY aware to me I would never book the hotel I deplore establishments who in effect do not trust their guests by inferring that damage will be caused and not reported to the hotel I hope others will take note of the way this hotel treats its guests and instead book one of the many thousands of hotels that treat people with respect Shame on the you

    Beautiful new hotel

    Beautiful new hotel, modern fixtures. Beautiful lobby, bar and restaurant. We did not eat at the restaurant, but there were people there every day. Right across the street from the casino. Walking distance to the port city center which included restaurants, shops, bars, etc. Friendly staff that most could understand English. Our favorite was Celine Rouxel, she went above and beyond to store our luggage, charge a phone, deliver the phone, and personally inform us when our room was ready. She was always ready with a smile for us and made us feel so welcome! Close to the Pornic town, clean and comfortable. The mattress was a bit firm for our liking but never had a bad nights' sleep :) Our room faced the canal and had a balcony with a great view. Next time we visit, we will stay here again and recommend to anyone who asks.

    Nice spacious hotel and a lovely town

    Lovely hotel, located within walking distance from the center via a nice footpath by the canal. The room was spacious room, clean and shiny as was the hotel. Most of all very gentle staff. Million thanks to Rouxel who was so kind and helpful to us and made our stay special. Pornic is a place with a very developed network of walking and cycling routes. Highly recommended.
