Hundreds of better options in Nice. This hotel was not “cosy” at all.

    rating03 Jun 2025

Where do I start… I would not recommend this hotel and definitely would not advertise it as a 4* hotel. I would hardly say 3* and with lots of indulgence. First day; arrived at the hotel around 10:30pm. Got all checked in, paid the city tax as I booked through my Best Western points. On my reservation I have booked a guaranteed double bed. When I got to the room I had a twin bed instead. 5 mins later I got down to reception and explained I have booked a double. The receptionist told me we were fully booked so for tonight this has to be it; also told me this is upon availability although my reservation was a guaranteed double room. The receptionist told me we may be able to sort it out tomorrow but I’ll have to sleep in a twin bed for tonight. I went up to take a shower and the drainage was blocked. Reported this to reception right away and they contradicted me saying the room is perfectly fine. The room was fine but the drainage is blocked?! Lol. Second day; Went for my day out and before I left the hotel I stopped to reception to remind if they can turn the twin bed into a double and to check the drainage in the bathroom. They assured me this would be rectified. When I got back at around 8pm, the beds were just covered with a duvet. It was not set as a double and the drainage still blocked. At this point I had enough and after reporting these issues more than 2 times… On my 3rd night; after I just had a shower, reception decides to come to my room at around 12 midnight saying there’s a leak under my room, then maintenance had to pop in and out for the next hour to check the bathroom… An apology was given and a check out at 1pm instead of 12pm. I spent 108k worth of points and this is not a cheap hotel. I feel that the guest isn’t valued and respected. Allocating the wrong room type on purpose just because I was a solo traveller says it all. After I have sent an email expressing how disappointed I was with my stay I was told the room type was correct although I have sent them the email with my confirmation. The staff seems to be a little deluded. Anyway, the good bit is that the lady on nights was helpful and pleasant and the location is pretty good. But I would definitely take in consideration other options as a BW member.

British people don’t waste your money here!! Horrible hotel!

    rating24 Apr 2025

I couldn’t wait to write this review the moment I left this dreadful hotel – a truly awful room and an even worse experience. I’m not usually one to complain, but sometimes you feel almost obliged to warn others so they don’t make the same mistake. Where do I even begin? The walls are paper thin; you can easily hear conversations from the neighbouring rooms. The toilet is separate from the bathroom and, bizarrely, has no sink, meaning you have to cross the room to wash your hands or shower. The toilet itself is so cramped that you have to contort yourself into uncomfortable positions, risking a pulled muscle just to use it. The shower drain was blocked, so grey water pooled alarmingly close to my feet – thank goodness I’d packed thick-soled flip flops, or else after 20,000 steps around Nice, I dread to think what state my feet would be in.The room bore no resemblance to the photos I’d seen online – I’ll be attaching my own for reference. When I went to reception on the first night to request a different room, I was told there were none available. Oddly enough, when I showed the receptionist that rooms were showing as available on Booking.com, she simply denied it. The next morning, I returned to reception, now sporting a head full of mosquito bites, only to be told it was my problem and I should buy a plug-in repellent. When I asked why there were no mosquito nets on the windows, as you’d expect in most hotels, I was simply ignored. The only solution offered was to pay an extra €60 to upgrade to a deluxe room or €100 for a suite, despite the fact we’d already paid a considerable sum and the price difference between rooms was marginal. In all honesty, if you asked me whether this is a four-star hotel, I’d have to say absolutely not – certainly not by British or Middle Eastern standards. I’d rate it as a two-star at best. The breakfast was sparse and uninspiring, yet they wanted €18 for it. Thankfully, the receptionist, who was well aware of my disappointment, waived the charge since all I had was juice and two pieces of toast. There’s a lovely artisan café just a short walk away where you’ll get a far better breakfast for a similar price, and it’s much more filling.I also witnessed two Irish women running out of their room after a battle with mosquitoes—so it seemed I wasn’t the only one suffering. The poor souls were desperately trying to cover their swollen, bite-riddled faces with foundation. I suggested they pick up some antihistamines and hydrocortisone cream from the pharmacy.**One final note: hoteliers often reply to reviews to have the last word and paint a rosier picture than reality. Whatever they say in response, take it with a pinch of salt – unless I get the chance to reply myself.**Would I book this place again? Absolutely not.1/10 - not up to British standards. Please note the last supper picture in the lobby is blasphemous and the picture in my hotel room is culture appropriation which I found offensive and in bad taste.

    Distraught and misplaced!

Package booked through BA but upon arrival at hotel have been informed that our booking is cancelled! After calling BA, we found our booking was indeed current according to them. The hotel has clearly cancelled our reservation without informing either BA or us. As it’s the weekend of the Tour de France it is clear the hotel have let rooms at much higher price without notifying us! As we sit here in the hotel lobby, we know that the receptionist is ignoring phone calls from BA which he has admitted to! Currently we have no accommodation to go to in Nice. Absolutely appalling that a Best Western hotel can do this!

Rude & unhelpful staff, facilities not up to par

    rating21 May 2024

I had an extremely disappointing experience at the Best Western Plus Cosy Hotel in Nice. Our stay, from the very beginning, was marred by poor service and significant issues with the facilities. Our flight arrived quite early, so we went to the hotel to drop off our bags. We were greeted very rudely by the woman receptionist. We politely inquired about the possibility of an early check-in, but she declined in a very discourteous manner. This lack of basic hospitality was a terrible start to our stay.During the short time we were at the hotel in the morning, there were two power outages. This was quite concerning and inconvenient. However, we decided to continue with our plans and returned to the hotel in the evening to check in.The room itself was quite warm, so we attempted to use the air conditioning. Unfortunately, it only blasted very cold air, and we couldn't turn it off. I went to the male receptionist to report the issue. He tried to help by changing the batteries in the remote but to no avail. The room remained uncomfortably cold, to the point where I was genuinely worried about falling ill. When I asked if we could be moved to another room, I was told the hotel was fully booked.I also requested assistance from maintenance or a manager, but I was informed that there was no maintenance staff or manager available on site at that time. This is baffling to me, as I would expect a hotel to have such support available 24/7. I asked for a refund due to the situation, but the receptionist said he couldn't authorise one and promised to pass on the issue to the morning staff and maintenance team. The next morning, no one came to fix the air conditioning. When I spoke to the morning receptionist, she was completely unaware of the situation. It was clear there was a severe lack of communication among the staff. Despite my complaints and the discomfort we endured, the hotel has refused to issue a refund.Overall, I found the staff to be rude and unhelpful, and the lack of proper management and maintenance support was shocking. I fell ill due to the freezing room conditions, which only added to my frustration. If I could rate this hotel zero stars, I would. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere; this hotel does not meet even basic standards of hospitality and customer service.

    Pleasantly surprised

We opted for this hotel because of its location. This was a fairly last minute getaway for us and were limited in choice for hotels. We were very happy with our choice of the Best Western Cosy Hotel - the rooms were clean and comfortable, bathroom was relatively compact but clean and worked as it should. The location is really good with lots of food options and transport links. The reception staff were also courteous and helpful,
