Perfect for a few nights in Nice

    rating05 Jun 2025

A very good budget hotel - it is a 2 star so you get what you pay for. Our room was tiny but had everything we required & the bathroom was very clean & modern. The location is perfect, just off the main shopping street. It is ideal for a weekend in Nice where you are out & about and basically only sleeping there. I would certainly return.

2nd Worst hotel I've ever been to in my life

    rating26 Jul 2024

CHECK YOUR ROOM FOR BED BUGS BEFORE SLEEPING HERE!!! The location is ideal, but I beg of you to stay somewhere else. The management here is malicious, and you shouldn't be giving them a single euro. I asked to check out and be issued a refund after I saw the condition of the room, and they literally laughed in my face. Two of the staff Aynene and Rabah were incredibly rude and dismissive. Aynene even bet me $10 that I wouldn't be able to get a refund. The complete lack of professionalism and empathy was shocking. There was also active construction at the hotel, and the noise regularly interrupted the sleep of everyone in my room. Lastly, I sincerely believe the hotel was paying people got some of these reviews, so take the positive ones with a grain of salt.Rooms: The rooms are the worst part of this hotel. The mattresses are stained, you can't sit on the toilet comfortably if you are 6ft+, and the views are horrendous. There was an odd smell emanating from the room that I couldn't quite figure out as well as mold in multiple places. I'm not a mold expert, but using AI to identify it, it looked to be black mold, which can be toxic. Lastly, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE ROOM FOR BED BUGS!!!Walkability: The only, and I mean the only good thing about this location is there are a lot of restaurants nearby. Everything is within walking distance.Food & Drinks: There is a snack machine downstairs.

    Hotel receptionist catcalls racial slurs

    rating12 Jul 2023

I was traveling with my friend, we are 2 Asian girls from America in early/mid 20s. This is interesting to mention as the receptionist at Hotel d’ Ostende on night shift on 7/8 called out to us “Konichiwa!!” (We are not Japanese, and didn’t speak to him either. This is also just shameful, uneducated/backwards behavior in 2023, let’s do better.) on our walk back to their sister hotel Hotel Amaryllis (the receptionists there often visit each other in the lobby) where we stayed at (around 11:30pm, we were getting back from beach club, and it had been very safe to walk around at night in Nice). When confronting him that this was racist later on, he at first replied that he didn’t think this was racist: the reason he gave was that if someone had called him some type of stereotypical racial slur (I forgot what the slur was exactly, but it was clear since he had darker (middle eastern), non typical French features), he would not find any offense. I do want to acknowledge that he did briefly apologize, after I told him rudeness/offensiveness is in the eye of the recipient, not the one who “may not have intended it”.

Bogus Hotel Booking through Lastminute.com - Confirmation code: 197-6591089

    rating06 Jul 2022

My review of this hotel is about the apparently bogus booking of this hotel through Lastminute.com.I booked this hotel for a stay in late June and when the flight was subsequently cancelled either by BA or LM - it's hard to tell who cancelled - when I tried to contact this hotel, to verify if the booking was still confirmed - there was NO REPLY - no booking confirmation and no attempt to resolve the matter or offer a refund. My advice is avoid this hotel - they seem to work with Lastminute.com to create bogus bookings

    Good location.

    rating01 Jul 2022

Centrally located hotel with friendly staff. Stayed room only. Biggest problem is the noise, both internal and external. Zero soundproofing. I was in a street-facing room so my sleep was seriously curtailed by general traffic, bin collection trucks and revving, noisy motorcycles. On the first night, such was the noise level from the flushing toilet, running taps, and the shower from the adjoining room that I actually thought somebody had invaded my own bathroom. The occupants decided to have a conference on a couple of nights til after 3 am and it was clearly audible through the paper-thin walls. Room was probably too small for the double bed but the layout was fine. Advertised WiFi was useless. Two-person lift and great air conditioning, which was very welcome in the 35 degree Nice heat. CNN was the only English language channel I could find. Despite the few positives, I wouldn't return. A holiday for me entails restful sleep and this hotel didn't deliver.
