A good base for a trip to Paris.

    rating21 Feb 2026

My partner and I stay at Hotel Altona this weekend for a 48 hour trip to Paris. We’ll start with the positives. It’s close to the Eurostar terminal…about a 10 minute walk. The staff are lovely and especially Bruno who welcomed us to the hotel. The room was ok. Comfortable and clean. Bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was really clean. The shower was amazing.Breakfast was a simple continental but really filling. Negatives of our stayOur room was next to the lift. So we had the noise of the lift going up and down along with the sound of the door sliding open and shut happening until gone midnight both nights. The walls are paper thin. We could hear everything our neighbouring room was doing in their bathroom. Also a huge gap at the bottom of the door so we had light coming in from the passage outside. We blocked this with a blanket. Also we asked for extra pillows but they didn’t have any. For what we paid it was really good value for money and a good simple hotel to use as a base for a trip to Paris with its closeness to Eurostar and a Metro station a few minutes walk away.

We stayed 1 night and 2 days, the front desk with Daniel and Amir were amazing, very accommodating and had our room ready earlier upon our arrival as we were confirmed that checked in was after 2:00 pm. But these gentlemen were exceptional***

    worst place ever

    rating21 Jan 2025

The worst place in Paris: dirty, not nice, terrible area which seems practical as it is closed to the station but really too dangerous, not safe at all at night, not nice nether. I do not advice this area and particulary not this hotel where the bed is dirty, with ticks and the room are decorated with bad taste. Sure it is not expensive ( relatively) but be sure you will find another better with the same price.

Hotel with a view and close to metro trains

    rating12 Sept 2024

This hotel is close to the metro train station which is brilliant for anyone who wants to get to all the major attractions. The metro in Paris is the best way to get around. Once you understand how it works, you can get anywhere! The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and it’s comfortable. The only downside to this hotel is the shower and noise. The shower is tiny and not very practical but it will do the job. The noise I can imagine is the same throughout the city, with the older buildings in Paris the walls seem paper thin. The view from our window is lovely. This is a modest building with an elevator 🛗 and close to many restaurants and a convenient store where you can buy drinks, toilet paper etc. we would recommend hotel Alton to anyone travelling to Paris.

    Newly renovated room.

    rating05 Jun 2024

Checked in on June 3-5, 2024.We got newly renovated room including bathroom & bedding. Nice touch with welcome tea with water kettle in room. Only the flooring need extra work. Room is extremely tiny, smaller than what it looks like on the photo. Staff is friendly, location is ok. 15 minutes walking distance to Montmartre, 10 minutes away to Gare Du Nord. During the day, location is good, but at night, I don't really feel safe to walk alone.
