“Ahmed, the racist Moroccan waiter, who singlehandedly ruined our France holiday.”

    rating11 Nov 2025

We are a family of three – me, my wife and nine year old boy who stayed at the Adagio from the 30th of September to the 4th of October 2025. Since we arrived late evening after a tiring journey of over 13 hours flying from Kolkata, India (with long layovers in Mumbai and Istanbul), we were late to arrive for the hotel breakfast. As a result, my nine-year-old was still eating when the cutoff time of 10.30 am happened. What happened next shocked me out of my wits and left a bitter taste in my mouth which lingered through our entire stay in Paris.A waiter (who I had already noticed casting hostile glances in our direction), appeared at our table. Infuriated that my child was still eating, he glared angrily at my family and me, before admonishing us publicly for staying beyond 10.30 am. As he said this, I noticed that the family at the next table had just left (they were white and probably French), and this person had clearly been waiting for them to leave before insulting us.After I had recovered from the initial shock over the humiliation, I told the person that we were done, and the child would take only 5 minutes more. To my shock, the waiter admonished me again, more aggressively and contemptuously, again informing me that the cutoff time had passed. At this point I told my child to stop eating and asked my wife and boy to get up and leave. After they left, I sought the waiter out and asked him if this was how he behaved with all his guests. To which he replied that since some countries weren’t ‘cultured’, he needed to behave this way sometimes.More than the irony of a Moroccan waiter telling an educated Indian corporate professional that he came from an ‘uncultured’ country was the scary thought that this racist person had probably behaved this way with others in the past, and would probably do so again.I want to add that I did complain about him to a manager at the hotel, who very sensibly kept him out of our way for the remainder of our time there.I have no complaints against the hotel. However, they should relook their hiring policies as racist and India-hating staff can give not just their hotel, but the lovely country of France a bad name!

    Hotels to avoid in Paris.

    rating23 Oct 2025

Worst hotel experience ever. Some of the staff seem to dislike foreign guests, only two helped us during our stay. Nobody tells you that they won't clean your room or take litter out except you pay 23euros for it or they do this once if you stay more than 6 nights. No point booking too early as their prices are very seasonal so avoid in the summer to book here and the breakfast is poor too; 19euros per adult for poor quality food and coffee.

Ceiling Fell on My Son – Staff Didn’t Care!

    rating19 Aug 2025

If I could give this a minus rating for rooms and service I would. One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a hotel. We stayed for 3 nights and booked 2 rooms — 402 and 433. Room 402 was fine, but Room 433 had a nasty smell from the start. About an hour after checking in, the ceiling started leaking. When we went to reception, they gave us a mop to clean it ourselves and told us to stay in the room, refusing to change it.Later, after returning from Paris, ceiling tiles actually fell on my son as we walked back into the room. We went to reception again, but were told there were no other rooms available and that we had to continue staying in the same one. Since we had two rooms booked, all four of us ended up sleeping in one room — two kids (10 and 12) and one parent in the bed, and the other adult on the floor using a blanket as a mattress. Each time we went to reception, we were told “the manager isn’t around, so nothing can be done” because the hotel was fully booked. By this point, the smell was unbearable. The staff suggested we check their other branch for availability, and we wasted nearly 2 hours trying to find another hotel, but with no luck.At checkout, I finally spoke to the manager. He refused to refund the full cost, arguing that we had “used the room.” I explained that Room 433 was completely unusable and we had been forced to squeeze four people into one room, but he wouldn’t accept it. Instead, he acted as if he was doing me a favour by refunding just £130 — the cost of one night. This trip was supposed to be a family break in Paris. Instead of enjoying the city, we spent mornings trying to sort out the room situation, constantly told to “wait a few more hours” to see if something could be done. The daytime reception staff were useless and unhelpful, as everything depended on the manager. And if the manager wasn’t working, you were simply left stranded. If you’re thinking of staying here because it’s cheap and commutable to Paris, think again. Yes, it’s “cheap(ish),” but the service, accommodation, and room quality are appalling. It completely ruined our family trip, and despite everything, we didn’t even get a proper refund. One of our rooms had a ceiling leak, and within hours, ceiling tiles actually fell on my son, leaving him with a bump and headache. Not once did the manager or staff offer first aid, medical help, or even a genuine apology. Their only response was indifference.I ended up sleeping on the floor with just a duvet from the unusable room while my kids and partner crammed into one bed. The staff didn’t care, and the manager made us feel like we were the problem. This was supposed to be a special family break in Paris, but instead of enjoying the city, we spent our days chasing the hotel for solutions that never came. Absolutely unacceptable — I would strongly recommend avoiding this hotel if you value your safety, comfort, and money.I am hoping someone from Adagio contacts me, as we paid for the roo,m which was never used and the trauma that we went through. But I doubt that it will happen.

A Pleasant Surprise – Ideal Family Stay in Paris

    rating10 Jul 2025

As a family of four (two adults and two children), we were very satisfied with our stay at this aparthotel. The room was clean, spacious, and exactly as described in the listing—no unpleasant surprises; on the contrary, the reality exceeded our expectations.A special thanks goes to the reception staff, who were kind, helpful, and always ready to assist, which greatly contributed to the overall positive experience of our stay.We also really appreciated the breakfast, which fully met our expectations. The selection was rich, tasty, and suitable for both adults and children. All items were continuously replenished, and everything appeared fresh and of good quality. Before making the reservation, we had read various reviews and had some initial concerns. However, we were positively surprised—our personal experience turned out to be better than expected. We would definitely recommend this accommodation to other families looking for comfortable and friendly lodging in this part of Paris.
