    We liked our stay and had a good welcome from the manager, who was replacing someone. The location is good, the hotel is old, but clean and nice. The bad thing is payment terms: we selected payment upon arrival, instead we have been charged the entire amount the day before check in and some weird guarantee payment which was never mentioned anywhere.     Our experience was mostly perfect. The only cons were the fact that when we initially entered the room, the desk was covered in ants, though once opening the window to allow cooler air, the ants went away for the rest of our stay. I think the fact that it was hot, made the ants appear because the hotel was very clean. The other downside is no AC. Other than that, the staff was very English friendly and I had no other issues.     The hotel is pretty old and there's foul smell in the bathroom. Rooms can get stuffy and you need to keep the windows open. But that's the case with almost all hotels in Paris. Water in the shower can vary between extreme hot and cold and you have to be very mindful or you'll end up burning your skin. Giving 3/5 instead of 2/5 because the staff is very kind and attentive. But there's only so much they can do when there are issues out of their hand.     Having come to Paris since the 1960s I thought this kind of small, comfortable, traditional hotel, within my price bracket, no longer existed. Happily, when I came here for the first time in 2025 I discovered that I was wrong. Here you will find an attractive bedroom, with a comfortable bed, a good shower room, enough room to store your clothes, and a surface to work on your laptop. The front desk is always staffed 24/24, and breakfast is brilliant and reasonably priced. Stay here happily like I do!
