    This is not a 4 star property, much less 5 stars and we would not recommend it despite good location and many lovely staff (most notably Maeva (a 10 star concierge), Anise, Emile, Henri and others. The first room we were assigned on check-in was simply unfit for 2 guests with luggage. Procuring a room change (not an upgrade) required a great deal of persistence, despite having booked a 7 night stay. The larger room we ended up in had very substandard heating, required a space heater operating non-stop and most notably an “open” shower that did not drain. As such, even at the lowest pressure the bathroom floor was filled with water within 2 minutes. So, a shower long enough to wash one’s hair was impossible during our stay. Finally, we paid for breakfast but left the property early for day excursions or flights 3 of the 7 days. When we asked about a boxed breakfast, we were told that there was no way to provide this and that ordering room service was required and we would need to pay for it. Ironically, room service was not offered until after 7:00 AM so there was no breakfast option whatsoever. On the plus side, the beds and pillows were very comfy. Breakfast was okay and they did accommodate special requests.

    This hotel is a treasure chest of French elegance, family history, and a professional, caring Staff who do everything they can to make one’s stay a joyful, memorable experience. My friend and I selected the Hotel Alfred Sommier because the decor look very French and very historic. We didn’t want a Modern look and this property (two twin Mansions) has been in the Sommier family for two hundred years! I began correspondence via WhatsApp with the incredibly proficient Concierge, Maeve, months ahead of time. You can trust Maeve to recommend nearby restaurants that are wonderful AND she can get tickets to destinations that are “sold out”. In our case, this was the fabulous Dior Gallery. Maeve secured “skip the line” tickets for us when all sites said there were none. The charming Henri’ is at the desk during the day and made us feel very special with each encounter. He even gave us a tour of the hotel! We adored Henri’! During the evenings Vincent is at the desk and is not only proficient, but also a very engaging conversationalist. Marco opens doors, handles luggage and greeted us warmly as we arrived back at the hotel each day. Breakfast in the dining room, conservatory, or courtyard each morning was a dream! What a perfect way to start the day! Marie, Awon, Eia, and all the staff, including Housekeeping made this stay much better than we had dreamed of! Our terrace room was lovely and comfortable. We sat on the terrace a lot. Richard, the hotel owner and descendant of Alfred Sommier, is often present and even showed us rooms where “Emily In Paris” scenes were filmed. Stay here on your trip! You will love it!

    Although the property itself is beautiful and historic, there were serious issues which were simply not acceptable for a supposedly five star property. On arrival the thyme receptionist had ladders in her tights. The receptionist’s who checked us I. Then proceeded to announce our name, email and sour roomscost to all and sundry in the lobby, a clear GDPR breach. The bathroom I. Our room had a clump of hair on the floor and the breakfast w, for the rates, should have been table service, not (limited) buffet.

    Spent 6 nights at this hotel in March. Although the location is good the Hotel it self is horrible. It claims it is a 5 star hotel but it is 3.5 at best. Rooms are so small 2 people can not fit in it. 2 People can not even hang up all their clothes because there is no closet space Shower drain backed up with so much hair in the drain. Our room had no heater and after requesting it to be fixed for 3 days they were kind enough to give us a space heater. There is no WIFI in the room either. Do not waste your money at this hotel. So many better choices in Paris
