    We booked a terrace room through Booking.com & really looking forward to it. However when we arrived our room was small with no terrace. When we questioned it the customer service was abysmal. The manager told us to get in touch with booking.com as it was their mistake & booking.com told us it was the hotel’s mistake. So we paid top price for the best room but got the smallest standard room. On checking in we were told by a member of staff we would get free breakfasts as compensation. On checking out we were told we would have to pay for the breakfasts by a shouting manager who said he hadn’t authorised it. We therefore cannot accept responsibility for discrepancies arising from information displayed by Booking.com or Agoda.While we acknowledge that our team informed you that similar issues have occurred previously, this reflects the ongoing challenges hotels face when third-party distributors modify or misrepresent room descriptions without our knowledge or approval.     Reasonable hotel but room for improvement in some areas

    Fairly comfortable hotel in good location. There were plusses and minuses to our stay.Good points: staff on reception unfailingly charming and helpful. Room a reasonable size for Paris with comfortable beds. Breakfast area good with a selection of hot and cold items including delicious croissants (when still available).Not so good: we were told as soon as we arrived that a charge of 700 euros would be held against a credit card. We were not warned about this in advance which we understand is illegal.Our room faced the street on the 2nd floor. Directly outside the hotel there was seating for the bar area and this was quite noisy at times. We asked to be moved as we were there for 7 nights but were told that this wasn't possible.The breakfast selection was unchanging (although OK as stated above). However, once an item had run out it tended not be replaced even if there was still an hour or so of time left. However, we found the service at breakfast to be 'hit and miss' to put it mildly. We have rarely stayed in a hotel - of whatever standard - where the serving staff did not greet us immediately on arrival at breakfast and ask for our tea/coffee orders. Without exception every morning we had to wait some time to attract the waiters attention to place an order and then usually wait some time for the drinks to actually be brought. (One morning we waited nearly 20 minutes.) The waiters seemed intent on clearing and cleaning tables rather than serving guests. (This is something that is so easily put right by a bit of staff training but gave us a very bad impression of this aspect of the hotel.)     The Royal Hotel Madeleine should have been the hotel highlight of our European holiday with Paris as our final stop. Unfortunately it was not.For what is touted as an upmarket hotel, this misses the mark. There were a few positives-Very comfortable bedProbably the best croissants in Paris at the breakfast bar.On the flip side-The superior room while small (expected- this is Paris)- there was virtually no cupboard space. We lived out of suitcases for 6 nightsThe hotel reception is anything but. Often on one at the desk, when there was there was no warm greeting. No offer to assist with bags and some of them were clearly inexperienced When we arrived on the Friday, I advised reception that our bar fridge did not work.I was advised that a technician would reviewEach day I asked for an update and on each occasion my question was met with blank stares and no knowledge of the situationOn the Monday I approached reception for an update on the fridge. Nevertheless, we sincerely regret the technical issue you experienced during your stay, as well as the delay in resolving it.Regarding the reception team, our property is a boutique hotel, which means we intentionally operate with a smaller team in order to maintain an intimate and personalized atmosphere. One or two receptionists are generally sufficient to ensure smooth service.     Great stay in a perfect location

    The location is excellent — very central and easy to walk to many areas, shops, and restaurants, 5 min to metro.The staff were incredibly friendly and genuinely welcoming, which made the stay feel very personal. Breakfast was a lovely surprise as well: a great little selection with delicious croissants and fresh juices.I was also pleasantly surprised by how spacious the Classic room (315) was (as in Parisian room). Had twin beds and two opening windows, room was spotless, even when we separated the beds, under the beds were dust free.I would definitely recommend booking the sauna and swimming pool during your stay, it’s a really nice way to relax after a day exploring the city.Overall, a fantastic experience and I would happily come back again.     An excellent stay in central Paris

    We had a beautiful stay at this hotel for myself and my 2 boys! After arriving early from the Eurostar, the reception staff were welcoming, helpful with our itinerary and stored our luggage so we could go out and explore! Room was spacious for 3, filled with everything we could need including giant bathtub and had a gorgeous terrace overlooking the Parisian streets below. Make sure to book a pool time as you don’t want to miss this haven of calm - after a busy day walking, it was a wonderful way to relax & re-energize before we headed out for dinner! I didn’t use the sauna as had children in tow but would def want to visit next time! Comfy beds, little extras in the room and a plentiful breakfast - would definitely recommend Hotel & Spa Royal Madeleine for anyone looking for a taste of luxury in a perfect central location. 5* service and style!
