A real find. Delightful stay. Friendly and obliging staff. Lovely big, warm, comfortable bedroom with excellent facilities. The Hotel is very well situated in an attractive part of the Marais, close to Metro, good restaurants, shops, markets etc. We look forward to returning.A lovely stay. Despite the hideous weather….

cool, clean, great location but falls short on services

Pretty little boutique hotel in a very good location - short walk to the Seine, cool parts of Le Marais and easy walk to Notre Dame and other sights. The owners did a good job upgrading a cool, old building. It's high quality and it's clean. However, it falls short on basic amenities and services you would expect from a 'hotel'. The experience is more like a nice, studio air'b'n'b. We were there for 4 days and didn't have any wi-fi until they fixed it on our last night (really tough for travelers to function without wi-fi). We had to ask for ice and, the first time, were told the ice machine wasn't working (had to go to the store to buy ice). The second time we waited 40 minutes in reception while the ice was made. Great location, comfortable room, soft sheets and perfect bed. Loved the weeklong stay we had. Staff was helpful and friendly, would stay here again. Little gem in the Marais

Charming hotel with a very friendly staff and boutique atmosphere. We had a few special requests which the hotel easily accommodated. The room was clean and spacious, comfortable for a 4 night stay. The hotel is in a perfect location for both exploring Paris on foot as well as using public transportation. Charles V - as in Very nice.

There are about 10 good hotel options in the Marais. Pavillon de la Reine, Cours des Vosges, Grand Mazarin are at the high end. Charles V is in the middle, along with Caron de Beaumarchais and JoBo. I like them all. Charles V is near center of Marais. a 5 minute walk to St. Paul Metro. The rooms are small - as are all at this price. The decor is very stylish and elegant. Spotlessly clean and quiet. I know the hotels in this area very well and highly recommend the Charles V.
