Quite run down. Good location and comfy bed

    rating01 Jun 2025

The good things about this hotel:- location: across the street from gare du Nord. Very convenient if you have an early train- bed , pillows, towels, string shower- all good quality - soundproof - you hear a bit other guests on the floor but no noise from the road or other rooms- the night porter - really helpful- air conditioning - when it is turned on… more below The badThe hotel is really run down. It could do with a hand of paint and extra care for falling off door handles and not working lightsThe manager chooses when to turn on the air conditioning and is never available in the evening when guests start to complain about it being off. It was very hot 29 degrees and the air conditioning was turned off in the entire hotel. Thanks to the night porter that managed to fix it. 2 days later, it was off again…Towels were not changed. One day they left just one new clean towel instead of two. We asked for another one and they ran out of towels as the laundry had not delivered them… I heard another guest complaining when I arrived. It is a recurring issue. No wardrobe or space to hand your clothes. No fridge

    Just OK

    rating11 Apr 2025

I had the suite. The staff were very nice about letting me check in early, it was super quiet, and the room was at the top of the building with a comfy bed, large bathroom and funny attractive roof. The hotel was close to Gare du Nord. I liked that there were lots of towels and great water pressure. However the hotel had a very run down air, the elevator only went to floor 4 (I was on 6 and it officially went to 5 but wouldn’t work at that level), the living room of the suite was tiny and uncomfortable, the toilet room v small and the (large) shower/bath room separated from the bedroom only by curtains. The lobby of the hotel was frankly dingy (don’t make the mistake of staying for breakfast) and it just didn’t feel like a suite—more a big bedroom. No balcony either. Might take it again if staying alone for a night and price right but not amazing.

    Charming hotel, superb price–performance ratio

I stayed at this hotel for a few days earlier in the year, and it was sweet. It's very close to Gare du Nord, so utterly practical logistics-wise. Also, despite the bad reputation the area gets, it's safe, and also very close to some of the most interesting spots in Paris right now for eating and drinking. Thinking of Rue du Nil, Petites-Écuries and the Canal Saint-Martin. If you're a foodie don't miss nearby Marché Saint-Quentin.As per the hotel, I was utterly surprised reading some of the negative reviews here, as I had seen the hotel mentioned on design magazines/webzines and was confident of lot of care had been put into it. I was glad i didn't trust the negative reviews and followed my instinct. Not only the nightly rates are unexpensive by the standards of four-star hotels in Paris, but I found the room surprisingly big and comfortable, the perfect Parisian cocoon. I found the overall design of both the communal areas and the room very interesting, with a palette and accents creating a nod to the cosmopolitan vibe of the hood. As per the room, mattress was huge, linen of very good quality, towels big and fluffy. Toiletries by Nuxe were appreciated too. Breakfast was not huge in terms of variety but excellent in terms of quality, and on par for what you'd expect in a nice café at - more or less - the same price (with the advantage of being at your hotel): fresh from the oven, boulangerie-quality baguette and viennoiseries, spreads, cereal, organic yoghurt, orange juice and excellent small roastery coffee. I had read negative reviews in this regard too, but I actually found breakfast to be on par with other four-star hotels in Paris. Yes, there's a bit less variety, but quality is outstanding and coffee superb. In other places you might not get such quality and coffee sometimes comes out of an automatic machine. Last but not least, I found staff to be utterly kind and professional.I would happily come back here and would recommend Hotel Habituel especially to those who want a practical, yet charming base.

Great place to stop near Gare du Nord

    rating10 May 2023

We needed somewhere to stay near Gare du Nord and for £110/night, this hotel was very good.Friendly staff on the front desk, nicely appointed rooms, v comfy bed and great shower with good water pressure. We slept well and didn’t hear noise from the street. The hotel is literally over the road from Gare du Nord - would thoroughly recommend!
