The hotel was built in 1900. 3 junior suites, 6 single rooms and 23 double rooms are located on 4 storeys and can be reached by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out.     Due to a last minute job I needed somewhere affordable and centrally located in Paris to stay for a night. I found le Faubourg online and was a little nervous by some of the reviews but decided to see for myself because I didn't have time or funds for somewhere else, and let's face it - i don't know these reviewers and this is a budget hotel. So my expectations were clear. And I'm glad I did, for not only was it based down a great street and well connected for public transport and what I needed. It felt safe and I was very warmly welcomed by the staff there who couldn't have been more friendly.Yes it is an old building and some internal decor needs updating and a couple of lightbulbs need replacing but everything is perfectly fine and usable. No the bathroom isn't so modern but it works and the shower was clean and powerful. The bed was comfortable and I slept well.There is a lift to get you to the high floors if you can't walk the stairs. There is a little continental breakfast on the mornings if you want (paid for) and it smelt lovely. There's also a little bar area. I'd like to say thanks to the team there and recommend this for short stays or those on a budget. Pleasantly surprised and will return again. Its down to earth, no frills, no pretentiousness and welcoming and safe. Honestly I would stay here again no problem.

    Good location in a street a short walk from Gare du Nord. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. Housekeeping generally poor, dirty window frames, carpets stained and bed cover questionable and grubby. Peeling paint and a broken toilet seat in the bathroom. Housekeeping knocking on the door a good hour and a half before checkout! Annoying!Reception staff charming and helpful, breakfast ok and included in the price of the room.

    Summary of this "hotel"Not very welcome staff on arrivalOur room was given to other guests.Curtains coming away from curtain poleV dirty stained towels supplied.Carpet dirty and stained.Damaged wallpaper covered up with sticky tape and sheets of plain paper.Mains sockets hanging away from walls, with exposed wires.Faulty door lock.Unusable room safe.Reports of thefts in the building.Reports of mice in the building.Lamp shades melted by light bulbsLight fitting not secured to wall. Holes in floor. Should be closed down.

    Awful hotel! It was like faulty towers. Room was very basic and shabby. We had to hold the shower head to shower as it didn’t reach the holder. But to be honest we didn’t mind that. On the 2nd day we got back to the room and the carpet was shocking wet and so was our suitcase and clothes, including our passports. They were covered in dirty water.I went and reported to reception and they said they would send someone up as we couldn’t see any water leaking from anywhere. 20 minutes later someone knocked on the door and said the issue was sorted. No apology and apparently the radiator had leaked when we were out. No offer of a new room and every time we had to walk to the bathroom our feet got soaking wet. That night I plugged a charger into the wall which sparked and melted my charger, the socket had clearly got wet. I again went to reception, still no apology and they said there was nothing they could do and to email the manager. I have now emailed 5 times and still not response.

    This hotel is VERY basic. The rooms are incredible need of an update. The towels are paper thin from years of use. The only good thing is that everything was clean. Don't expect much if you stay here.
