  Super-helpful staff, lovely hotel

  The hotel was great - they did everything we asked for and more. The hotel staff could not have been nicer - they were super helpful at all times. The hotel was very clean and the room was a good size. We loved the large bath!Location wise it is quite central with easy access to the Bonne Nouvelle and Sentier metros. This gave us easy access to all the sights.   Pass…a lot better options in Paris

  I am trying to come up with something positive to say but drawing a blank after an extremely disappointing stay at the Hotel L’Echiquier. The location lacks charm, the rooms are tiny (we couldn’t believe our room was called a junior suite given how small it was), breakfast was sad and service, especially the person who checked us in and out, terrible…but oh wait they have Clarins bath products so that must justify all the negatives.We booked a room last minute to accommodate our early arrival to Paris because our other accommodation was not available. We had stayed at multiple Accor properties before and have always found them great so Hotel L’Echiquier seemed like a good option. But the disappointment started as soon as we stepped in…I asked Yoann, the receptionist, if someone could help my husband with the luggage — we were traveling with a lot of suitcases and a baby so an extra hand would have been helpful and his answer was a flat no…a first for me having stayed at hundreds of hotels with incredibly helpful staff. And this attitude continued - can I get an early check in? No, only if you pay…but I have Accor status that says I am eligible …no rooms available (ok so rooms are available if I pay but not otherwise). Is there a place I can change my baby’s diaper — no; where do people generally change diapers? I don’t know, in France people don’t stay in hotels with babies….and the list goes on and on. I give this hotel a hard pass!   The hotel was amazing- beautifully decorated, clean, modern- in a great location for walking distance to the train station and sights. The staff were so helpful, friendly and spoke brilliant English. Check in was efficient and we were chosen to select the advent calendar for the day and we won a magnum of Italian red wine, which was a lovely touch. Our room was spacious for 3 girls to get ready and sleep, clean and had all the necessities for a comfortable stay. I would 100% recommend this hotel and would certainly return. The only downfall is that we didn’t spend much time here due to a busy schedule but what a very well priced hotel that exceeded my expectations. A big shout out to the interns who were an asset to the hotel !

  Great Value, Great Staff

  We had a great time at L’Echiquier. By Paris standards, the rooms were spacious. If I had one complaint, it seems our shower door was attached backwards which made getting in and out a little tight. It was more of an oddity than an inconvenience. The hotel breakfast was good. We ended up eating there every morning. Less than a ten minute walk to convenient metro stations. The staff was so helpful. When we realized we accidentally booked Moulin Rouge tickets for the wrong day, Aimee was so helpful. She went back and forth with me and the Moulin Rouge for about an hour until she resolved it for us. We are very appreciative. Great value for the price. We booked through Costco travel and paid less than comparable hotels elsewhere. Would recommend.
